Played this course on the last day of a golf trip in VT. Expected it to be up to the same level as the associated resort, and consistent with the high price, but it was not. Three holes are under construction, and the greens are being aerated, none of which is stated on the website or while booking. When we brought this up, we were told that “we could have chosen not to play when we arrived.” Really, the suggestion was that, after booking the round, driving there with friends, and paying for the round, we should have just chosen not to play! We explicitly asked for a partial refund, which was rejected.

The course will be nice when it is fully reopened, and it has a nice layout, but at the moment it is misleading and a terrible value. Head up to Neshobe or any of the other great courses in VT; better golf for less $.

We stayed at the Equinox last weekend and regrettably have to say one of the worst experiences. Multiple issues starting at check in and continuing through the weekend. Worst part is that took manager days to call and when he promised to call back never heard from him again.
It is living in its past glory. Not worth the price.

The staff are 5 star. The course could and should be great but:
1. the hard scapes and infrastructure (cart paths, signage bathrooms) are sorely in need of a total restoration.
2. Drainage is poor throughout, impacting fairways, bunkers, greens.
3. Greens are in mediocre shape and the sand traps are full of rocks, and obviously poorly maintained.
4. Clubhouse is a total dump and restaurant is lousy.
5. Scenery from course is beautiful but there is minimal esthetic landscaping. Not a flower in sight.
Just played a similar style, nearby course-Fox Run—which was fantastic and shows just how crappy Equinox golf has become and how nice it could be if somebody actually cared.

It is hard to concentrate on your game with all the great scenery surrounding you. A challenging but fair layout awaits your attack. I would recommend playing in the fall when the foliage is bursting with color. Awesome !!

Very nice Southern Vermont course. Very fair layout - typical mountain golf with many hilly lies with excellent greens. Liked it so much went back for a second play. Staff was very helpful - pace of play was 4 1/2 hours - overall conditions were very good. Expensive if you pay full price - search the internet for deals.

September 2007 was my first visit to Gleneagles. From start to finish I can only describe my two days of golf as a fantastic experience. Being from England I enjoyed endless humour from staff and players alike. I thoroughly enjoyed genuine an abundance of warm friendliness from everyone at Gleneagles. All the staff were so helpful.

Thank You Gleneagles it was magnificent.

Enjoyed the experience but not as much as we had expected for the price. The course was a challenge. No beverage cart or restaurant. We paid for a can of beer in the pro shop after the game.

This course is a great layout. It features both short and long par fours, and interesting par three's. The fairways and greens are kept in excellent condition. I would have given it a five rating, which I think it deserves, but for the sand bunkers. The sand bunkers do need serious renovation work. The sand needs to be replaced. The surface in the bunkers are very firm and lack a good base of sand. The pro shop staff and outside staff are excellent. The golf round took less than four hours, which is a rarity these days.

The clubhouse is fairly basic, although it has all the facilities one needs, but the staff are very attentive and welcoming. The course starts off fairly easy and just gets more and more interesting. Make sure you play the back 9 as that is definitely the best with some interesting doglegs, great views from the highest point on the course and some great par 3s. Not the longest course and so great for all standards of player. A real treat!

The staff was great - very friendly and accommodating! This is a lovely course in great condition, although I'd recommend working hard to stay out of the bunkers, which are not as well-maintained as the rest of the course. The lunch we purchased at the turn during our first round was disappointing, though. With limited options for golfers wishing for a quick meal, we each chose a pre-made sandwich and continued our round. The turkey sandwich on multigrain was bland but acceptable, nothing special. The ham and cheese on white bread was the problem. Both bread and meat were dry (even with addition of pre-packaged mayo to add moisture); still edible, but far below the standards expected at the Equinox! We played the course again a few days later and were paired with club members (terrific guides/playing partners) who pointed out the Equinox does not run the food service. According to them, most members refuse to eat there. What a shame the food vendor does not reflect well on the golf club! One final note regarding the course: the par 5 7th hole crosses the road and it is a blind shot from the tees. Bizarre! Big hitters need to lay up, but there is no signage to indicate yardage to the road from the tees. This really needs to be addressed before someone walking/biking on the road gets seriously injured. During our 1st round, I found my road-rash scraped ball on the other side and was thankful I didn't hit anyone!
