Gorgeous places to hike off season! Highly recommend the lift up the mountain, hike to the tower, food or beverage, then take the lift back down. Smooth ride, friendly staff. Safe-distancing, masks, hand sanitizer, and more to accommodate our current COVID pandemic.

The Vail takeover has been very disappointing. Lift lines are so long that I don't even bother trying to take the bubble on weekends or holidays. The staff is often not paying attention- I can't count the number of times I saw a 6 person chair go up with 2 people in it while the lift line is packed. I had one instance where one of the smaller lifts was stopped and one worker was yelling at the other to restart it; he didn't hear him because he was looking at his cellphone, so we all waited aimlessly. Also, many lifts are closed- even on the busiest days- and snow making is marginal (I'm guessing these are all corners cut to save money for Vail). I skied 30-40 days there this season, and by early February there were bare spots everywhere but they elected not to make any more snow even when temps would allow it. In addition to crowds, there is more reckless skiing than ever. I don't know if this is a function of the Epic pass. To sum up, a great family mountain now has turned into an overcrowded, unsafe, and poorly managed facility with the main goal appearing to be making as much money as possible. Really a disappointment.

The verdict on the Vale takeover is in, and its mostly disheartening. as local property owners and longtime season pass holders, We like the cost and ease of the new season epic pass, however staff, training, and overall operations have taken a big hit with long poorly managed lift lines on holidays, and stingy snowmaking. The Epic restaurant now rebranded as "43° North" is flat out ruined with a lacluster reduced menu, and absolutely glacial service. Expect to spend 1.5 to 2 hours getting your food, but the good news is you probably won't need to wait to be seated like you used to because everyone is catching on... I was there New Years weekend for a 12:00 lunch on a Saturday and the place was 2/3 full. We are going to give them one more year to see if they get their act together and if not we will sell our home.

Okemo is a great skiing mountain and we like to go there. However, they have many “Slow” skiing areas marked where many skiers go very fast including people who have Okemo jackets on that work for the mountain. We had a beginner skier with us and we were scared for her safety as the Okemo ski patrol and others sped by us on narrow “beginner” trails. There is no control nor concern on Okemo’s part about these family slow skiing areas.

We stayed for a long weekend and skied Friday and Saturday. The mountain has something for all levels. The grooming was great! So many awesome runs... Blue Moon, lower limelight...fun rollers! The bubble lifts had 15-20 minute waits by 10am on Saturday and that lasted all day. Once the crowd formed we took all the other lifts with no waiting. The staff could improve efficiency on the main Sunburst 6 bubble by getting 6 people on each chair rather than having people line up themselves. I saw many chairs with only 4 or 5 skiers. Staff did not direct others to fill in all seats. I have skied all over US, Canada and Europe and 3 of the trails at Okemo are mis-rated as far as difficulty. IMO...Dream Weaver on South Face is not a green run. It had some steep sections that a beginner would find challenging. CatNap is signed as blue but it is a flat easy trail...should be green. Black out is the easiest black I have ever skied. I would rate it blue. Lift ticket prices are steep! Buy on line 7 days in advance to save some $. The half day tix are only afternoon and very little savings over full day. Had there been a half day am at a reasonable price we would have skied Sunday morning before checking out. Overall I give the resort a solid B+.
