Purchased a new bike from Alpine Bike Works , very impressed by the entire experience . I got the bike shipped but they spent time with me to answer my questions, go over the configuration and customized the bike based on my requirements. Bike arrived quickly , well packed and tuned based on my weight.
Since then I've had some questions and they were always answered almost immediately. First class service , friendly staff.

Not good! I called Alpine Bike Works on Friday June 12th. I was told they had one Santa Cruz Megatower CS X-large bike in stock; however, it was still in the box. I stated that I would be stopping by on the morning of Sunday the 14th to check it out and purchase it. I was told the bike would be ready and waiting for me.

I arrived at the shop on Sunday 11am only to discover the bike had not been pulled, unboxed and assembled yet—a process that takes between an hour to an hour and a half. I had just driven 96mi/2 hours to get there only to learn they failed to follow through with having the bike ready & waiting.

As I left the shop, the Owner stopped me outside stating that he wanted to “help me”. I asked him what exactly he meant by that, to which he responded “I’ll have the bike built for you right now.” Now, I’m thinking to myself this guy didn’t have time to get it right prior to my arrival; yet, suddenly has found the time—My Time—to get it right after my arrival? Really? That’s how it’s done?

I told the Owner I don’t do business like this. No reputable business does. Since when did it become acceptable to presume upon a potential customers time? My plans for the day did not include waiting 1 1/2 hours for a bike build. This guy didn’t even offer to buy me a cup of coffee while I waited.

Furthermore, what prevented them from calling me ahead of time to inform me the bike wouldn’t be ready & waiting? They had a day and a half! Also, I couldn’t help but wonder as I drove home, if the Owner lost sight of the fact that as a paying customer, I was there to Help him and not the other way around. He needed to sell the bike; I don’t need to buy.

Lastly, if they can’t be counted upon to assemble a bike when they said they would, or at least make a simple heads-up courtesy phone call, then what is there to make me think they can follow through with anything else? I can only imagine the headaches were there to be a warranty issue or a simple return. Not Good!

Bought my Giant Trace there a couple years ago. Always fast, expert, and friendly service. They respond to email questions and know their stuff. Coming from out of state, we are always in a rush to get to the MTN, they understand and get us going quickly....our most recent stop they checked my bike over and tightened the headset, no charge and got my son on a quality downhill rental. They make it all easy, hassle free.

I arranged for the rental on line.
On the appointed day, I arrived at the shop, and they had the bike ready for me within 10 minutes (including installing the pedals I'd brought).
Fast easy and friendly.

Alpine Bike Works is the best bike shop in the area. I have been visiting this shop for several years now, so when it was time for my wife to upgrade her mountain bike it was an easy choice. Top notch service as always! Highly recommended
