Great hiking

Take the detour to Hamilton falls...worth the effort! The trail along West River is shady and easy. Beautiful scenery. River sounds are everpresent

This campground is small and the sites have plenty of room.Great playground and swim hole. You can also walk up the trail and swim in different areas in the river. We did the hike to Hamilton Falls. Very worth the climb. The campground is old fashioned and quaint like I remember from my childhood. I lived it and would go again

Nice, very clean VT state campground on West River in town of Jamaica. Traditional campsites and lean-tos (sp?). Very kid friendly with playground and beach on the river. Bike flat rail trail 2.5 miles to Ball dam and take switchback trail to to for great views. Stop on trail and hike one mile up to Hamilton Falls. Great swimming. If... More

I went on a beautiful hike with my son in Jamaica State Park during my recent visit to Vermont. There were many different hike options and a clean, inviting area to swim.

My husband and I are mid-shaped hikers, that is, not in shape, not fully out of shape. We decided to drive from our inn near Dover and take in the waterfall at Jamaica St. Park. It was beyond worth it. We took the bottom trail, a nice easy hike for a mile, and then began our ascension. This trail is,... More

I've been camping at Jamaica for 35 years and it hasn't changed a bit. The campground is immaculately clean and the sites are large enough to provide privacy. The sound of the river rushing by salmon hole lulls you fast asleep. Hike to nearby Hamilton and Pike Falls. Stop by D & K General Store for hot coffee and a... More

Beautiful walking trail all around the river. You can see beautiful trees and foliage, and the views off the trails are stupendous.

We walked to Hamilton falls and the nearby dam. A stunning gentle walk along the river. It follows an old railway line, long since defunct. At this time of year the colours of the leaves are outstanding. A small climb up if you want to get to the top of the falls...persist as it looks as if it goes into... More

A Beautiful autumn day---a lovely companion--the falling leaves and a wonderful autumn leaf show of all hues combine to make this a highlight of any trip to Vermont. Wonderful valley, wonderful river and the rewards of the little asides to see the offshoots off the old rail trail. Go !!!!

worth going early and taking the waterfall hike. Easy walk, lovely views. Be carefull though NOT to continue towards Windham Hill road, as you will end up 12 miles from the entrance of the park...
