awesome rehearsal dinner space!
Aug 2019
Highland Center for the Arts, and Julie (the manager), were a saving grace for our rehearsal dinner. We got married in Greensboro, VT, and were having a hard time finding a good spot that could accommodate a 30 person rehearsal dinner. I’m so happy we found Julie and the Highland Center for the Arts, as both were amazing and went above and beyond expectations. She set us up on the patio with live music, our signature cocktail (the Gibler, a version of a gin gimlet), and tons of delicious food (meatloaf, seafood fra diavlo, salad with maple syrup balsamic dressing, and tasty deserts and desert cocktails). The space—both indoors and outdoors—is gorgeous, and the walls are decorated with fantastic artwork and it’s beautifully and brightly lit. It’s a great space for people to walk around, chat, and get to know each other. Highland Center for the Arts takes care to really incorporate local vendors and flavors into their dishes, and her staff (especially her bartender Cassie) were all lovely. Even before the event, we had so much fun stopping by in between wedding planning activities to try out food in the cafe and create drinks with her and Cassie. Everyone was incredibly impressed. Thank you so much Julie, you are so welcoming and do such wonderful work!

Outstanding venue
Oct 2019 • Couples
Sort of in the middle of no where, but a wonderful performance center. Nice display of local artists’ works in the foyer. Every seat is excellent. Acoustics are very good. Performers love it.

Great location, ok food.
Jun 2019 • Family
There are a couple of good things to know before going to this place: it's situated in a great spot in amongst fields and trees; there is a good mix of outdoor and indoor seating; the gallery is free to stroll around.

We stopped by for some brunch on father's day. A live band were playing called 'The Toasters' and they provided great music. The restaurant has a relaxed, chilled out feel and the menu selection was small but varied. My parents both opted for the vegetable frittata which they enjoyed and my wife and I chose the pulled pork with eggs Benedict. It was a little bit disappointing but not terrible. It just lacked taste and seasoning.

On a nice day, if you choose the right meal, it's a great spot.

Area Cultural Center
May 2019 • Couples
Apparently, one generous benefactor made this cultural center happen. Stunning to find a center of this design in this area. The art was great, some pieces for sale, lovely setting for a wedding picture taking, and the café especially our hostess ”Carrie,” was delightful and charming. Not to mention the fact that the food was delicious, we had a snack mid afternoon, then returned for dinner. And a special treat, a concert of chamber music that evening. Loved every moment of it!’n

Art Show + Shakespeare + Localvore Cafe
Apr 2019 • Couples
We went this weekend to an art opening at the Highland Center for the Arts. Our first visit there. They've done a great job of creating a comfortable, modern facility for the arts in an idyllic setting. The show was of three local artists, including the always exploring Frank Woods with his usual mood pieces, Elizabeth Fram with very original Stitched-resist Dyed and Embroidery on Silk and Elizabeth Billing a weaver showing an incredible Nimbus installation. JT Turner's Shakespeare's Ghost was playing in the theatre and the cafe was humming with satisfied stomachs. Make it an outing...

Old Vermonters photo exhibit until Dec 2
Nov 2018 • Family
Free admission. A surprise finding seemingly in the middle of nowhere (no offense intended please). Beautiful new (almost 18 months old) building housing temporary exhibits - currently a black white photos exhibit of old Vermonters with their quotes & interesting stories on cards alongside. $5 suggested donations for evening movies. A beautiful small theatre is used for shows - best to check website for offerings.

Outstanding Cafe

Wonderful surprise in the middle of the Northern Kingdom. The cafe is outstanding for lunch. Our group had sandwich & soup combos and Haddock sandwich. Service matched the wonderful meals. Art showing are apparently every two weeks.

The Hardwick Street Cafe
Jun 2018 • Friends
Located within the Highland Center for the Arts is a very good eating facility known as the Hardwick Street Cafe. It is open Tuesday through Saturday each week from 7am.to 9 Pm each day. Sunday Brunch is available starting at 9 am and ending at 3 pm. Our party of four had lunch at this cafe on Tuesday, June 26,2018. It was a delight to find this cafe with a very good menu and very pleasant staff. The ambiance of this eating facility is top rate as well as the food served. Not one of our party was dissatisfied.I would rate this facility as "very Good" and would recommend it to others.

A Night of Dinner and Music
Jun 2018 • Friends
First we had a wonderful dinner in the on site cafe and then saw Stephane Wremble guitarist, a jazz guitarist in the Django Reinhardt mode, who learned his craft among French gypsy communities and accompanied by a drummer, a secong guitarist and a base. In the past we had seen an excellent Midsummernight’s Dream in the same theater.
