I took this train ride in October of 2018 the last fall season expected to get on the train ride and see a lot of Fall Foliage unfortunately all I got to see was a lot of backyards it's kind of the saying you can't...More
No fall colours while they say that there would be a lot of colour. The website sais if you don't want to share a table with other couples then you could buy an extra ticket, but in the train you can sit where ever you...More

Thank you so much for reviewing your trip with us on the Green Mountain Railroad. I apologize that you felt it was not worth what you paid. While we try to make this a very affordable train ride for all walks of life. To comment...More
From the pictures and description I had higher expectations for this train ride. It definitely disappointed - it was nothing like the description. There were kids running up and down the train car and no one seemed to care. Total disappointment and waste of money.
Great time! We got to view the fall foliage on this trip through the mountains in Vermont. The narration was informative and humorous. The food and beverage service was nice( limited because it was the last trip of the year). I would recommend this trip...More
I booked this train ride for my mother and I based on the Green Mountain Railroad website. I thought it looked like fun and quaint and would allow us to have a beautiful view of Vermont, which was the main reason for our trip. We...More
Very boring, could not see much foliage except for what was by the side of the train. The other guests looked so bored, sleeping or on their phones. The announcer talked a little bit on the ride up but nothing on the way back. Bathrooms...More
Rode the Green Mountain Railroad Fall Foliage train last week and had a great experience. Comfortable seating (we sat in a car with lounge seats rather than in cars with tables), beautiful scenery, and very friendly staff. A great experience all the way around.
Pretty fall foliage but the views were no better than from our car windows. Limited narration by crew and speakers was hard to hear where we were sitting. Much of the seating on board is uncomfortable for the long ride, though we lucked out with...More
It was a nice day. The amount of actual scenery was not what we expected. But it was a nice relaxing trip. Wish we would have known we could bring food on the trip. Read the website and they said no outside food, yet many...More

Beautiful Vermont fall foliage trip! (3 Replies)
Hi Everyone, We are coming over to USA in Sep/October next year for a very exciting holiday! We are staying in Burlington from 1st Oct to the 5th October. I realise this may not be ideal fall foliage colours but it was all we could do with the timings we had. I am very keen to take a train ride to see the scenery and had looked into Green Mountain Railroad but it's 2 hours drive from Burlington so I'm worried it's taking so much out of the limited days we have. We will have a...More

You'll be better off doing day trips in your car from Burlington to cover more ground and see more sights. Typically, on those dates if you head up through Stowe and over Smuggler's Notch (Route 108) and to points North and East --Eden, Lowell, Newport, Lake Willoughby, Craftsbury, Elmore -- you'll find foliage at that time of year. You'll also enjoy Burlington a lot on those dates as there's always a lot going on and it's a beautiful small city on the shore of Lake Champlain with beautiful...More
