I flew into Burlington Vermont and wanted to do a Lake ferry ride. Drove south to Charlotte VT and got the ferry to Essex NY. Paid 15$ for me and the car. Great scenery, great views and very relaxing. Disembarked and then drove north to Plattsburgh NY and got the ferry back across to Grand Isle. So tow different ferries... More

The ferry route across Lake Champlain from Burlington to Port Kent has the oldest continuously running double-ended ferry in the United States: The Adirondack. This is a LONG ride, and The Adirondack and the other boats on this route have been updated and improved many times so the ride is very comfortable with all kinds of concessions available. There are... More

Fairly easy and pleasant way to cross to Plattsburgh. Nice to go up on deck, particularly in the summer.

Very enjoyable. The ride was worth the fee. We were able to enjoy a great view of the lake as we crossed the lake :)

We've used this ferry several times and enjoy it! It was $14.50 for us and the car and a convenient schedule. You can get out of your car and walk around during the crossing and the scenery is nice. You can stay inside an enclosed are or be outside in the elements. We would recommend the ferry - very convenient.

An easy way to transit between upstate New York and Vermont. A cash operation that will cost you $10.25 per car plus $4.25 per passenger. Not a bad deal considering the time saved driving plus the views crossing Lake Champlain. If you get lucky you might just spot "Champie".

Lake Champlain Ferries is the worst thing on Lake Champlain. NOT ONLY are some crossings only seasonal, but they don't accept credit cards. The lines are always ridiculously long, and understaffed. Customers have to get boarding passes to hand in after they go through a pay station there is no other way around (not efficient). The company itself is a... More

We crossed from Vermont to Essex NY, which is the southernmost crossing of the Lake Champlain Ferries. Essex is a very small village with only a couple of shops and eateries. We actually drove 8 miles further to Willsboro for lunch. The ferry ride was easy and relaxing; well worth our time !

Passengers and employees were friendly & the conversations helped pass the time waiting to board. Smooth boat ride and nice views of Lake Champlain.
