This is not a big area, but if you are near Brookfield, you must stop by the Sunset Lake Floating Bridge. What a cool thing to see and the view makes you speechless!!

I've been going over the bridge in the early morning hours and have really enjoyed the views. Park on either end and take a walk. Look around at the resident ducks or the blue heron on the southwest side. As has been said many times...More

This bridge is off the beaten path south of Northfield. Back un-paved country roads lead you to the bridge but it was well worth it. Jump in the lake or throw in a fishing line. Stop and enjoy! Happy Travels!

Stopped by here on "I wish it were a sunny day" because it would have been a great place to jump off the bridge into the lake and tube a while! Off the beaten path, quiet and picturesque, with only a few parking spaces. Will...More

It is great to see, and be able to drive over, the new floating bridge in Brookfield. The experience brought back fond memories of trips through the area during my 70 years in Vermont.

This is not like a covered bridge, of which there are a lot in Vermont, but an actual one-lane, floating bridge. It crosses Sunset Lake and is so quintessential Vermont, it defies understanding, that such a place actually exists. We drove across, parked our car...More

The floating bridge is a fixture in the area. We have visited many times over the years. Back in the day, the barrels were creosoted and in driving across your tires would get a good washing. Kids, on a dare, would swim underneath it. The...More
