The Henry bridge is conveniently located near two other active use covered bridges that have been well preserved. As a Pennsylvanian who has explored several areas of covered bridges in my own state most of ours are in active and have been placed in the vicinity of where they were once in use. It is a treat to be able to visit a place that has these beautiful architectural creations and the settings where they are at live up to expectations of being picturesque. There is a place to pull your car over in order to take pictures, etc. I would still caution to watch for vehicles coming through. I am grateful to the state of Vermont for maintaining these historical structures so that many generations can experience them.

I really wanted to see covered bridges while visiting Vermont! We spent one night in beautiful Bennington & to my surprise there were three covered bridges close by! We visited this bridge & were delighted with the serene setting & visited with three young ladies traveling from Italy & took photos for each other. If you're in the area, be sure to stop! It's beautiful!

Classic Vermont Covered Bridge
Oct 2019
Henry Covered Bridge is a classic Vermont bridge. It is an area where many fly fisherman use. The water that runs under it is clear and refreshing.

East to find it is on River Road at the corner of Murphy Road and Orebed Road. There are pull-off areas to park.

Best Historic Covered Bridge in Bennington

This red-painted Town lattice truss type covered bridge (built, 1840) had a single span and was 121.1 feet (36.9 m) in length. It was in good condition. Parking was in a small dirt lot beside a town park. Like other covered bridges in the area, signs guided drivers to this bridge. I liked this one most of all those in the vicinity.

Unremarkable, but worth a quick visit

One of three nearly identical-looking bridges in the area. I was expecting them to have a certain Bridges of Madison County romantic appeal, but they were all quite plain looking with modern traffic signs posted all around them. Interesting that the original structures are so old, but a lot less interesting once you learn that they have all been partially or completely rebuilt in the last 20-30 years.

There are 3 covered bridges within a couple of miles of each other. We very much enjoyed seeing them and taking lots of pictures. Take the time to see them!

Covered Bridge #3
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is one of the 3 covered bridges in Bennington, all within a mile or so of one another. They are all still in use as one-way spans. There is a small picnic area, with parking space for a half-dozen cars, right around the corner from the bridge

Not Disappointed by Burt Henry

For some it is just another covered bridge but for me it is ANOTHER covered bridge!! This was the next one on our brief tour of these architectural wonders in the area. Burt Henry was easy to find - thanks to signage on the main roadway (actually all three bridges were marked the same). Make sure you drive thru to catch the view from the other side.
