This is slightly different than most old house tours as it has basically been kept in in its original condition. it does not have a mish-mosh of outside furniture or similar place holders, with the exception of some artwork it is filled with pieces from the home. The staff is very knowledgeable and give you a more detailed tour than... More

Home to a former governor. built with money made from the gold rush and railroads. The "Doll house" outside is a mini replica of the house itself. Nicely maintained carriage barn that can house functions. Summer croquet league on the grounds.

While in the Bennington area, my husband and I decided to stop by and tour this historical home. Patrice was our guide and was very knowledgeable and accommodating. It seemed that about half of the house is open to the tour and each of the rooms visited was well preserved. I specifically appreciate that the furnishings and decorative items actually... More

We were amazed by the original decor of the home, so lovingly preserved. The docent who gave us our private tour was very well informed, and had a great sense of humor. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. In North Bennington, near the college.

Park McCullough House is a beautifully preserved historic property built by Trenor Park in 1864. President Harrison stayed in the home during his visit in 1890 when he dedicated the Bennington Battle Monument. The house is a must-see for anyone who loves historic homes when visiting the Bennington area.

If you are out finding the covered bridges, this is close by. Worth a look at the gardens and grounds. It was closed for the winter when I was there, but worth the stop

We had a couple of fairly simple walks in the Mile-around-wood adjacent to Park-McCullough House. Park at the edge of the road by the walk and go up to the woods. There are several walks around the woods and fields. A good place to blow away the cobwebs

We did not go inside the house (apparently tours have to be pre-arranged), but the grounds are beautiful. Walk into the gardens and down to the bridge; it's a pretty spot. We chatted with a group of people on the porch who had just finished a private tour of the house, and they told us it was worth the time.

We were so pleased that we were visiting on a day they were open. You do need to remember to bring cash. This home had so much history and so many beautifully preserved items. Paintings, sculptures, furniture, toys, clothing, dish's, carpets and so much more. Our guide was very noligable and passionate about the history.

I have stayed in North Bennington for four summers and never managed to get to this property when the house is open. Its supposedly open Fridays, but it is not open on some, for varied and assorted reasons. The property is clearly understaffed. Would be nice if they were open on a weekend day instead, to allow working people to... More
