My daughter (under 10 years old) and I got there right at the opening bell at 10am! It was a beautiful Saturday with blue skies and it was maybe 75 degrees all day. We rented a 2 person kayak for 2 hours and literally went around the entire perimeter of the lake in about 1.5 hours. They provided free life jackets as the lake is very deep in parts and it was only $25 for the 2 hours of boating! The kayaks are right near the shore and they also provided the oars!

We then took advantage of the onsite snack bar and had a light lunch with snacks and drinks.

After lunch, we just swam in the beach area and jumped off the dock that is provided (it is VERY large) and the water is about 10 feet deep off the dock so no worries jumping right in. There is a very sturdy ladder to get back up out of the water.

If you want an incredible relaxing day with crystal clear Vermont water, you can't go wrong! We did encounter some seaweed but that seems to be everywhere nowadays! This place is AMAZING!

On our way home we stopped at the Barnard General Store across the street and got some great snacks for the trip home!

Incredible day at an incredibly beautiful place!

A beautiful lake for swimming, boating or just hanging out that also has camping. Free pedal boats are available and you can string up your volley ball net for group fun.

If you like to tent camp and like hiking the this is your place. We have a 26 ft. camper and the site we were in was a little tight getting into. After taking a walk around the campground I noticed that the majority of sites are suited for smaller size campers or tents, so be careful picking your site. But with that said, all sites are pretty flat. Sites 1 - 18 back right up to a main road so up until 10:00 there is quite a bit of road noise. Also something to take of for people with campers, is there are not very many spots to fill your water tank, so make sure you do it on the way in. And for people tent camping, you may be doing a little walking to the rest rooms/showers. The restrooms are older but they are clean as is the whole camp ground and park. The beach is nice and you can get snacks, food, ice, rent paddle boats and paddle boards. The lake itself is small but there are no motor boats so it is relaxing. Other than hanging at the beach or walking down down to the store there isn't a whole lot to do in the area except hike; lots of access to the Appalachian Trail. The town of Woodstock is only about 15 minutes away and you can go to dinner and do a little shopping but that is about it. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute town with a lot of charm it's just that I can't spend more than an afternoon doing that sort of thing.

I had such a poor reception, I drove home, 4 hours away. I got the feeling that this small park is a friendly place only for local Vermonters and not welcoming to non-residents. The 2.5 hours I waited to check-in, not once did the park staff person get off his lawn mower to talk to me. No cell phone service, no WIFI service, no way to communicate with staff.

I go here frequently through out the summer on day trips. There's a nice beach and day camp areas. My only complaint was last time I went, an unleashed dog attacked my leashed dog. After the altercation, the aggressor was still not put on a leash. The rules clearly state dogs are to be on leash at all times. I wish the park staff were a bit better about enforcing those rules.

The lake does not allow for motor boats and/or other noisy water sport equipment.
Perfect then, for canoeing or pedal boating (board can be rented by the hour as well as life jackets).
The beach is also great to go for a swim and simply sunbathing. Kids also love it.

A fabulous and clean lake. Sit on the grass or on the sand. Great cement area to jump off of into the water (endless hours of amusement for good swimmers!) Rent a kayak, canoe or SUP Board for 30 min, 1 hr, 2 hr or 1/2 day. Reasonable rates. We paddled around the lake and saw a beaver dam! Water was clean and cool. Perfect on a hot summer day. There is a small snack bar with reasonable prices.

I have been going to the lake forever. I have often loved the staff, they have been friendly and courteous. And the park volunteers have been super! Not this year. The gate house looks like a fortress- all locked up and orange cones around it. And the staff are grumpy at best and grouchy more often than not! Even though I have a pass I have stopped going!
