This is an update to a review we did almost two years ago when we rated this course low for their poor customer service. We can report that on this outing, Lakeside had vastly improved their customer service, and the course in general, was improved. The biggest difference was inside, where we encountered Verla, this wonderful women running the pro shop. She is the perfect roll model that every other golf course should study. She was extremely efficient in the way she checked us in and in the way she managed the play; all while being very warm and friendly. It is the type of treatment that makes you feel appreciated and want to comeback and play again. Lakeside is lucky to have a staff member like Verla. The course itself has also been improved. They have removed a lot of the thick weeds and bushes that lined the streams and lakes and overall maintenance has been improved. This is not a challenging golf course and the design is a result of being built in phases over the years, so there is a mixture of hole design types (and green types). However, what is here is being maintained well and was a fun course to play the day we were here.

A quick lunch and a good value. You can either pick up something during your round of golf or just drop in for a meal.

It's not the longest course around but it can be very challenging. Par is 37 on the front and 34 on the back. The back can be a real test. I only hit driver on 4 of the holes and had to lay up with a 5-iron on a par five and par four. The greens are in good shape and the fairways are in good condition. Since the SLC courses are having problems with water we started golfing here. It's an easy course to walk.

We paid for 18 holes with cart on GolfNow and had a 12:30 tee time booked. When we arrived at the course at 12:00 and checked in we were told by a very unfriendly young man that the front nine would be closed from 12:00 to 1:00 and that they would fit us in where they could on the back with the rerounds. The problem was there was no room on the back with a full schedule of rerounds. Of course the groups making the turn were not happy because they were already having a slooooow round and now we would be make things worse. This was unfair to those who were playing 18 and unfair to us. After a very slow first nine we were routed to the front nine to finish our 18 holes and found ourselves directly behind a tournament playing a scramble format. No one in the pro shop told us we would be rerounding behind a tournament. When we went back to the pro shop to talk to them about the situation, they told us to just “go find some empty holes to play”. We were only able to play 3 more holes, without interfering with other golfers. So our round consisted of 12 of 18 holes. The people working the course this day certainly did not care about the quality of golf they were providing us or giving us our money’s worth. Maybe they do not like GolfNow bookings or they just had poorly trained staff working this Friday afternoon. Overall, a disappointing, partial round of golf.

played this course, people inside club house are real friendly. cafe has good food at a great price. The golf course was in great shape and a good test. easy to walk, and best of all we played 18 holes in less than 4 hrs. now my favorite course.

This is one of the best courses for less than stellar golfers. It is very open and flat. The back nine has quite a bit of water on three holes, but it is a great course that you will want to play again. Also they have done a ton to keep the water out, and it is no longer suitable to call it the sponge.

If you're looking for a challenging course, this is not it. However, this is a nice course for just getting out with your friends and having a relaxing time. No hills on the course, so it's not very challenging, but decent waterways and traps.
