Hands down the very best "trail ride" of my life- unlike any other. Absolutely terrific! This is a real ride over gnarly open desert land and is not for the meek. It reminded me of the days when I owned horses and could gallop over coastal sand dunes. That said I have two criticisms.. Despite a long conversation with Jackson, he never made it clear that the credit card I used to reserve the ride is not intended for actual payment. At the end of the ride I was shocked to be told I needed to pay four hundred dollars in cash. I certainly did not have such a sum with me and was put in a very embarrasing situation, not made any easier by the attitude of the woman who had come to collect. The second criticism is, in my humble opinion, this ride is not suitable for people with very little riding experience. This is a real ride with lots of opportunities to become seriously injured. There were seven of us in our group and only two of us had real riding experience. (the trail rides most people experience does not constitute riding.) Within the first hour one of our group lost control of her horse and was thrown. Luckily she didn't break any bones or worse, but it proves my point. The seven hour ride is not for everyone. But if it is for you, you are in for a treat of a life time.

First of all, don't let Jackson annoyance persuade you away from this place. Jackson loves to talk! We put the phone on speaker and found it humorous listening to his sales pitch. Note: You get on the horse upon arrival and after a safety brief you are on your way. You get your full three hours worth of time. Again, don't pay attention to Jackson sales pitch, just sign up and do it!
I have been on several horseback trail rides throughout the country and this is by far the best one that I have experienced.
Pros: They bring you up high for some good views and you go through a creek; they let you gallop the horse fast as you want or fast as the horse wants you to; you get to climb up steep inclines; you get to do all those cowboy things you always wanted to do on a horse!
Cons: I do NOT recommend this place if you have Never ridden a horse before and this is your first time in the saddle; it is a fast trail ride and they could have slowed down in some spots; three hours was a little too long for my ass and knees;

Hands down the best possible trail ride out there! With horses for first time and experienced riders, they’ll have you galloping in the desert by the end of the day (if you wish). Not the standard single file walking only trail ride, a full day lesson in horsemanship and adventure through some very cool scenery. 10/10 recommend cannot speak highly enough of the operation, just make sure you have a few minutes spare when you first call to book, Jakson loves a chat!

I really hope no one else goes through what I went through today. It was sad. And no, I personally would not hire these services. I would be scared to hire someone who acted so weirdly, condescendingly and aggressively on the phone.
I called this place, asking if they had an opening for my family and I for tomorrow. I mentioned I would be in the area for today and tomorrow.
A man who told me his name was Jackson came out swinging, and his response was to ask me if I didn’t think I was calling with too short notice, literally scolding me. He hung up on me the first time I called. As I called back, since I thought my call dropped, he threatened to hung up again, saying he hung up on me because I had interrupted him and told me to stop talking.
At that point I realized what I was dealing with, someone who was in such a mood that he felt more interested in scolding me for calling late, instead of being kind and professional around his busuness and potential customers. I listened to him, and that’s when I got a name.
So I would not dare call this place again. Among the many weird things he said, he said I was being unreasonable calling the day before. The first time I called, he asked if I called before (no, that was not me), so I wonder if he scolded someone else before me as well. Oh! And he said he recorded our conversation (which is illegal and a huge invasion of privacy btw), but if he did, the conversation would just confirm the reasons for this review. In the end he told me that even if they had space he would not invite me.
I tried to explain I only called to ask if their service was available and I did not expect to be scolded for calling so late. I was in total shock. What a unpleasant encounter!
All he could say was no mam, we are booked, I would have understood and I would have hung up without posting this review. I am baffled! I really don’t understand what I did wrong, except to call and inquire on their service.
I said to him I could only imagine he was having a rough day and I hoped his day gets better. However, I did say I would post my experience on the internet.
I am sorry to post this review. But the way I was treated today was totally unacceptable.

My two friends and I had booked a horseback ride at Jacob's Ranch after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We wanted a "real" experience and a chance to bond with the horses. We indeed got that and much more! The group was introduced to the horses and got to get a feel as to which horse would be a good fit. I honed in on Linda pretty much right away! She is a sweet half pony & half quarter horse. Next we brought the horses into a ring to connect/train them (basically to see how they would react to someone new giving commands). Then time to clean hoofs, brush out, saddle up and away we went! At one point Linda decided to forge her own path and a tree branch happened to bop me on the head, but it was all good. One part got a little hairy as I was going down a steep hill on a narrow path (gravity kicked in), but Cowboy Josh gave me pointers on what to do the next time and I never had a problem again! We DID run the gauntlet! I put all my trust in Linda and she brought me up to the top safely! I AM very scared of heights but sitting on top of Linda I felt okay. Linda is such an awesome horse and I knew she wouldn't falter. It was the best day- seriously! A special shout out to Cowboy Josh & Cowboy Dane, and sweet Tommy for their guidance, wisdom and patience! Thank you so much for making this experience one that will last a lifetime! If you are looking for a real experience and are willing to put in time, effort and love for horses, Jacob's Ranch is for you!

tried to book a trail ride but had a horrible time. I called the number and the owner told me I had to download the app telegram to speak to him. Once connected through telegram he proceeded to tell me he was having problems with the government and they were listening to his phone calls. I told him I wanted to book a ride for myself and my daughter. He talked forever and then said to call him back when I could be on speaker with my daughter present because she had to hear what he had to say. When she was on the phone he told us that he was not allowed to do rides anymore BUT we could ride the horses for free as long as we didn't tell any government officials. Then if we loved the experience we could donate money to his feed company in his name. The he went on a rant with my daughter listening cause he said she had to hear this.... he said all slave owners were democrats and every KKK member was a Democrat. And a lot of other inappropriate things my child didn't need to listen to. I spent a total of 5 phonecalls and 3 hours total time on the phone with him and then he asked me to send $500 to his feed company and then he said we could come down for a ride. I said no because I have no way of getting a refund if the ride doesn't happen. He said he turns away 130 people a day and if I don't send it right now he will call them. I said please cancel and ran. This guy is crazy. Run away fast.

This was a wonderful adventure. Genuine horse handling to get to know the horse and vice versa with the horse bonding to you. Bridling and saddling included in the experience. Then the trail ride through the desert and mountains at different paces. Jackson was a wonderful, patient teacher who made it all fun with humor and calmness. It can be all day or as long as your stamina permits and every moment is delightful. The horses are experienced, bond quickly with their rider and provide a comfortable, reassuring experience but also like to trot, run or walk depending on the rider’s experience and comfort. Would do this again for sure.

I called to simply get information on horseback riding, such as cost, the length of the ride, when and where to be, very BASIC details just like any other business.
This however is not what we got. The man sounded drunk and absolutely rude. He wanted to talk for 40 minutes about anything and everything except the main details we requested.
He’s very unprofessional. After FINALLY getting off the phone, he proceeded to send us texts and voice recordings.
We highly encourage you to read the reviews and stay clear of this business. Multiple people also had the same phone experience as us and the text messages following up.

I was very disappointed with the customer service of the ranch hands. They were on their phones intermittently, sat down in the few seats available, did not offer help getting off our horses, and just generally seemed reluctant to offer help. The worst part was letting my son get on a horse they new was skiddish and did not give him pointers of how to speak low and slow to him. So when they let him out in a big open field the horse took off and would not stop. My son fell off and hurt his back and got a concussion. The head ranch hand SLOWLY walked over and did not ask if he was ok, just told him to get up. When I asked if he could switch to a slower horse I was told the other ranch hands needed the gentler horses. Furthermore it seemed like there was a bad vibe between the ranch hands and it did not feel like a team atmosphere with an eagerness to make the customer happy. At such a steep price tag I would not trust you will be cared well for.

Do you really think anyone will believe that our experienced wranglers need the gentle horses?
We are not sure what angle you were trying to work, but your comments are at best disingenuous and complete utter nonsense.
Fortunately, anyone who reads this dribble will see it for what it is.

Where do I begin? Jacob’s ranch gave my family an experience of a lifetime! They truly made a bucket list dream come true for me. I have always wanted to go galloping on a horse through an open field but never found a place that would allow a novice like me to do so. My children will never forget the memories they made bonding with their beautiful sweet horses and then getting to groom and ride with their “new best friends” :) My only warning is I think boring old walking trail rides are forever ruined! Now that we all got a taste of trotting, loping and galloping I don’t see how we can go back to just riding in a boring old line.
I also have to mention the wranglers who worked with us are amazing! Cheryl was perfect for me. Confident and comfortable. She put me at ease and allowed me to follow her for a ride of a lifetime. And Josh was hilarious allowing my children to loosen up and ride to their full potential. Lastly Jackson who booked our experience really cared about all of us getting this opportunity. He went above and beyond to make sure my little ones got to be part of everything. I’m so grateful for that. Don’t miss out. This truly is the only place that offers this kind of ride!

Hi Angel,
Thanks for reaching out to us with your question. We have horses that can accept a wide range of individuals, the best way to know if we're a good fit for you is to give our head wrangler, Jakson, a call at 702-813-0493 to book your spot in advance. Thanks so much for your question!

How much is the trail rides and are the rides actually at Zion National Park?
Written November 13, 2015
we charge $24 per hour. However because this is not the typical nose-to-tail boring ride, rather, you get to pick your own horse, we take you through extraordinary bonding process, and then teach you to ride so you can trot, lope, Gallup, jump, race each other, and a whole lot more! but the telephone is the only way to communicate the details for this experience that's "guaranteed to be the most exciting, adventurous, and informative horse experience of your lifetime or it's free"
thanks, Jackson
Written April 7, 2016
My husband and I will be in Zion next week. There is not much information on the website. Does it operate in November, how long is the experience and what is the cost?
Written November 10, 2015
one more thing, "Jacobs ranch guarantees the most exciting, adventurous, and informative horse experience of your life if we don't greatly exceed your expectations it's free" with that said there's too many details to talk about!! To even attempt via email is just NOT viable that's why we required telephone reservations and talking on the phone the old fashioned way!!
look forward to hearing from you,
