Great day trip into an old mining town in the mountains where a few people still live. The old buildings have been moved into a central location for visiting. Parking is a bit haphazard and hard to find. The small town store is open for snacks and souvenirs. Check ahead to make sure the buildings are open.

Ophir is a very unique & charming little mine town. Learned a lot of history & who lived there. Can’t believe people still live there today! We saw slot of old mining equipment/d mining trains/old mine buildings. Very informative & everyone enjoyed the visit.

Ophir offers beautiful scenery. It is a quite unique place. The community has moved many authentic old Ophir buildings into one area and have them furnished with period furnishings. A Must see.

The drive up was beautiful, no tour guide signed up for today so we just looked around and read all the signs. There were wasps everywhere. The population is around 55 and we probably saw 10 of them and none of them seemed pleased that we were there. I probably would not go if I new all of this ahead of time.

Ophir is a great little historic mining town. The canyon itself is a great place to take a day drive and enjoy a picnic. There is also some camping areas if you want to spend a night or two. Just FYI, No cell service in the canyon.

This is a neat town to visit. It is an old mining town and they have created a neat site to show what it was like in the late 1800's. The buildings are only open only on Saturdays from 12 to 3. There is a volunteer to give information about the area. I would highly recommend visiting the park. A lot of history.

The town of Ophir (pop. 25) has done an incredible job of restoring the old mining "ghost town" and creating a window to the past in this beautiful scenic canyon. Located about 25 miles southwest of the town of Tooele, it's a little out of the way, but if you enjoy learning about the history of the old west, it's worth the trip. The old buildings have been amazingly restored and arranged to give you a "village" feeling, and it's very visitor friendly with picnic tables and restrooms - not to mention a spectacular view of the canyon. There is no charge for admission, but they do accept donations. Also, all of the buildings are closed on Sunday, though you can still walk around and look in through the windows.

Phone number on internet was incorrect as well as the times that someone would be there. Parking was not marked at all.

Some Mormon history. Old mining town built on the side of a mountain. Not easy access for ADAsters but interesting history and story of how they formed a town on the side of a mountain
