Ancestor Square alone is a simple place, but when combined with fine dining, shopping, and some walking down main street, it can be the best place in St. George. The history is engrossing, so do take time to read historical plaques and walk around the square. Events there also draw a good crowd. They are worth look into. It's a pretty place with green grass, old buildings, statues, cute shops, a nice Thai restaurant, waterfall/creek and other simple delights, even the trees are cute and comforting.

I believe I counted at least five restaurants all withing this four square block area. All excellent choices as wells as a variety of shops and art galleries right in the heart of downtown St. George. Free parking but it becomes scarce near the dinner hour. An added treat is live music on the weekends and a small farmer's market in season on Saturday mornings.

This is a nice centrally located part of St. George. A great place to go to kill some time because it's centrally located to historical site and great food. Benja is arguably the best Thai food in the state and Geoge's is the go to for nightlife offering great food, drinks and live music. Ancestor square is just a beautiful place where you could sit down and take a nap or just wonder around and view the art gallery and relax. You'll find shade there too!

This square is charming but I was expecting more in the way of history than what I saw. We walked the square in the morning and most of the establishments seemed to be restaurants. I did not think buildings were marked well because I only saw two historic building placards. Maybe we missed them but it looked pretty "dead" overall and did not see much in the way of history.

This lovely little area contains some of the nicer, higher priced restaurants in St. George. Also houses a few companies and salons. I don't see going there unless you had one of the fine restaurants in mind to patronize. It is in a strategic location in downtown.

Went to Ancestor Square to eat at the Painted Pony. After dinner, we walked around, but most of the activity had ended (9:30 PM). We looked at some of the historic buildings that were located in the square. We drove by the square the following day and saw an art show in progress. We also walked through the historic district and saw the the outside of the winter home of Brigham Young and we walked over to the Seven wives B&B (we had tried to book reservations there, but were too late)..

The Ancestor Square is nice to walk around. You will find for instance a very old jail that was used in the past. There are also a few restaurants around the square and easy accessible from the square.

Nicely landscaped collection of buildings in the center of town with about 5 or so restaurants, including the Painted Pony (always excellent) There's a galley or two and a couple of chain restaurants as well as 3 one-off eateries. Park the car and enjoy a few hours in the heart of town and a good meal.

Check with the visitor information station for a printed guide or just search for it on your phone (a PDF is available).

Walking tour takes you around the historic downtown area visiting many of the interesting sites.

Most of these venues are closed on Sunday so plan accordingly.
