Jackie, thank you for your review! I think it was unusually chilly for only mid October here. I'm glad to hear that you didn't get too cold though. We're glad you all had fun. Canyoneering is definitely a unique experience! -Christine Ward

Did a half day canyoneering excursion. I absolutely recommend going with this company. At no point did the experience feel rushed as it has with other companies I have used.

The introduction to canyoneering takes place in a canyon that features 6 rappels with the longest being about 75 feet high.

Zion tour guide and Hotel advice please. (1 Replies)
Hi all. I know I posted this earlier in the Zion forum but figured I'd get more of a response in the Utah General forum. I am planning on heading to Zion for 2 days as part of my bachelor party (the other two will be in vegas) because it looks amazing and I have always wanted to go canyoneering. Currently we are deciding between Paragon Adventures and Zion Rock & Mountain guides for a guided tour to book. Both look great and seem to include plenty of slot canyons, rappelling, climbing etc...More

The Desert Pearl is a fabulous hotel - have also stayed at Zion Lodge and Zion Canyon B&B, but enjoyed the Pearl the best. We've used Zion Mountain school twice and would do so again in a heartbeat. We like the Bit and Spur and Oscars for food and beverages. Have Fun - I wish I had gone to Zion for my bachelor party!!!!!

Green Valley resort - good base to enjoy off site activities (3 Replies)
I am interested in travelling to St. George from LV in mid sept to enjoy some golfing, hiking, rock climbing, etc. I was thinking of staying at the Green Vally resort and paying the room rate while planning separate golf dates and excursions through Paragon Adventures. The hotel rates seem quite reasonable and the property looks lovely. Based on some of the reviews on this board, it seemed as if we could better customize our activities without having to pay the all-inclusive rates. ...More

I appreciate the thoughtful comments, Happyto trip. We will be visiting from Texas so the heat does not scare us. Mid Sept. temperatures sound perfect to me. . We will be splitting our time golfing and doing some guided hiking/climbing trips with paragon. Based on your previous comments, we will avoid the southwest side of town and stay around the St. George Blvd area in the Marriot/TownPlace Suites area. We do like to eat and drink well - could be we go to the Painted Pony...More

I'd go with Zion Adventure Company. I'm a local and that's just my personal choice. They are all great but I really like Dave B. Stay in Springdale. neither is really a party town, bit you have Vegas for that. Make the most of the canyon experience! Locals go to the Bit n Spur, wildcat Willies or Jacks Sports Grill to drink.
