Easy hike, close to downtown

An interesting short hike. Not strenuous at all, but not wheelchair accessible. Great view of the city and surrounding valley.

St George Temple Quarry Trail

Easy hiking trail overlooking parts of St George, UT and ends at a rock quarry where the early pioneers "mined" huge rocks that were used for the foundation of the city's Mormon Temple.

Fun little hike to see where the pioneers got the foundation stone for the temple. Nice in cool weather. Helps connect us with our pioneer fore fathers.

Where did they get the Stone for the foundation of the Saint George temple?

I went on the trail the first week of november, to heat was as much of a factor as it might be at other times of the year. Great views from a fairly narrow trail. It is a pretty easy hike, but I would not take little ones on it.

Good place for a relaxing, early morning walk. Not a strenuous hike at all. Nice no matter the weather.

Beautiful, easily accessed urban trail

Start at the trail head and within minutes you are on a secluded hillside overlooking a lush golf course. Follow the trail to its terminus and you will find a red rock stone quarry where tons of stone was cut to provide building material for many of St George's historic buildings. Don't miss this easy trail!

Nice Hiking Trail overlooking St. George
Dec 2018
Took us a while to find this one but if you head toward the big "D" on the side of the hill you are almost there. This trail hugs the mountain and takes you back when the Mormons used the same trail to haul the ballast rock for the foundation of their temple. Beautiful rock formations and color greet you with along with modest elevation changes. A great spot to see the city as well as work out those kinks you may have from traveling by car. Great weather in December, but would not recommend in the summer except in the wee hours of the morning.

A Long, Hot Walk

The trail is easy to access and well marked. There is no shade, but the views of the city and general area are nice.
