This is a must do when in Park City, it's location couldn't be better and it takes you way, Way up! There is one downside, and that is the fact that it's Sloooow! But, you're there to enjoy the mountain, right? So what's the rush?...More

Gorgeous views and a very cool way to see Park City from a different angle. However... do NOT ride this if you have reservations or plans within an hour of jumping on. The guy at the ticket window informed us it takes 26 minutes up...More

If this lift operation moved at current speed in the winter there would be frozen people everyday. Obviously it’s a scenic ride but to sit in the blazing sun moving at a snails pace or not moving at all is not pleasant. Once at the...More

We stay at Summit Watch / Marriott, the lift is a ski-in and ski-out from there. It is located at the foot of the Historic Main Street. You can also check your skis and apres-ski from the lift.

Great way to get to the mountain. Load at the bottom of Main Street, come back afterwards and hit the food and bars apre ski. You can valet your skis right at the lift. The lift crosses over town- great view.

Very slow. Due to not much snow many things not working and long lines toward end of our trip after Christmas. Before much better.

Highlights: Right in the city, you just walk to it, park your car, or ski to it and it takes you to the slopes right from the city center. Lowlights: None.

Parking in Main St at night /Accom Qs (12 Replies)
Hi, we are a family trying to decide between staying close to Main St or in a condo at base of PCMR for a trip Jan 1 - Jan 14. We will have a car and would have free parking at each. The 'in town' condo would allow us to walk to Town Lift each morning and to restaurants each night, but parking is outside and its a bit smaller, though adequate for the job. The PCMR base condo is a bit larger and has underground parking, but obviously further from town and restaurants etc. I know there...More

I wouldn't base my decision on parking differences. You'll most likely be taking the bus to get around regardless of where you stay since Main street is long and steep. I would not attempt to drive from the condo at the base of the ski resort to try to park on Main street. Parking is limited and can be hard to find. The restaurants are a reasonable price. They are likely somewhat higher than what you would find in the SLC suburbs, but not extravagantly so. If you are there to ski I would...More
First Ski Trip to Park City (12 Replies)
We are a married couple in our 30's and planning a trip here for our anniversary in January 2017. We have skied Breckenridge & Steamboat and are looking to branch out to a new place. We picked Park City since the flights to/from SLC are good and not too far of a drive to the skiing. My Questions are about accommodations: 1. This is a ski vacation, and normally we are on the slopes open to close. Should we try to stay close to the Marriott or the Town Lift? 2. Also, we are on a...More

Welcome to the forum. Dates in January are vital. Sundance Film Festival is Jan. 19-29. While that's a great time to ski, it's a tough time to find a lodging deal. A budget of $250/night will be limiting, but if you are early January you would have some options. There is overnight ski storage at Park City base (free I think) and lockers (pay) for boots. Snowcrest is an OK location - a bit far from actual base area to walk but probably close enough to the lower lifts (First Time and...More

Lodging location advice? (4 Replies)
My family of 2 teenagers and 2 adults, all expert skiers, is traveling from VT to Park City for a week at the end of February. I am looking for advice about where to stay. The boys would like some independence, so we have been thinking ski-in ski-out, but perhaps home for lunch or a mid-day meet up is not realistic anyway considering the size of the resort? Should we be looking mostly at places near the Town Lift, Canyons, or Park City Base? We are leaning toward a condo to save a little...More

You have two resorts each with multiple base areas. So part of it is deciding between Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort. Staying on Park City's lower Main Street gives you access to the Town Lift to Park City. Look at Marriott Summit Watch, Caledonian, Lift Lodge. Nice in that you are walking distance to dozens of restaurants and you can take Town Lift up to the mountain. Downside is that it's a super slow lift (15-20 minutes). You can ski down. Park City base look at Marriott...More
