- Mary Ann Malbrough10 contributionsBest place to ride!!Great Mountain!!! Go every year. Perfect location for flying to. We used to rent a car but we never got it out of the garage. Now we use Uber to and from the mountain. Park City public transportation is great way to get around. But we also walk to get to restaurants and the grocery store. The ski area is massive. Plenty of trails and different terrain!! Absolutely love it! Heading back December 5, 2024. Park City mountain and I are the same year model!! - SeeTheW0rld62Sunnyvale, California2,268 contributionsExcellent skiingPark City is a large resort with excellent skiing. There are two main areas, Park City and Canyons. The areas used to be separate ski areas and are now combined. There's a lot of terrain to choose from, with a lot of blue and black runs. The snow is great and many of the lifts are high speed.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 9, 2024
- Louis HAtlanta, Georgia635 contributionsGreat mountain and conditions but some good and badFirst the bad. I got to Kimball Junction to rent my skis around 9am due to a late flight. I already had my Epic pass. Not knowing the resort and area I asked the employees the best place to park. They told me Canyon village. Long story short, get to Canyon village(it was a Friday)around 10:30am and there is absolutely no parking - none. It was snowing hard so I drove back to Kimball Junction where I saw people with snowboards standing at a bus stop near the visitor center. I found parking in the visitors center and salvaged the day with a short bus trip to Canyon village. The slopes and snow were awesome and the lift lines were not too bad at Canyon village. I was not impressed with any of the food or lodges at either Park City or the Canyon village side. Epic prices and average food. The Canyon side has some really good and technical blue runs. Day 2(Saturday) - On some more advice, I parked at Park City high school and got there at around 7:45am. No issues and hopped on a bus after waiting around 20 minutes. Got on the Payday lift with a short wait. I really enjoyed the Park city side more. The views are breathtaking and they have some great blue groomers. As the day progressed the line became a 30 minute wait and longer to get on Payday and some of the other lower lifts. You have to find a lift that is mid-mountain like I did with Motherlode. I pretty much staid on that lift and Summit house for most of the day. Most of the other lifts I hit had at least a 20 minute wait. Overall the snow and slopes are great but as with any of the popular Epic resorts, the crowds are getting progressively worse. You can go on a peak day or weekend but do not get there any later than 8am.Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten February 13, 2024
- Dean S3 contributionsSnowboarding lesson with Jesse OPark city mountain was insanely epic but the highlight of my trip was improving my skills thanks to Jesse. He helped me level up and get over my fear of certain death. Try seek him out, he surfs the mountain... some say you can periodically make out waves of snow on the mountain with him ripping barrels.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 16, 2024

Skied over Christmas with wife and three teenaged boys. The snow was not good early, but got much better as coverage improved during the week. Pros: Huge area with varieties of terrain; friendly staff; good access around town and between villages. Expert terrain at top of mountain was excellent (after snow) and not crowded. Cons: Food prices on mountain are ridiculous, highest I have ever seen; and the few food places are the most overcrowded I have seen. One gondola connects two sides of the terrain and the gondola closes at 3:30 even though lifts are open until 4. I talked to numerous people who were trapped on the wrong side and had to take a bus. Several runs were poorly marked. In one instance, I took a Blue run with my wife; we got to an intersection and the Blue run was closed, and the only way down was on Black runs. She made it, but not comfortably. Some good, some bad.

Do not go to Park City Mountain or The Canyons at Park City for spring break (during the month of March or later). Many of their employees are college students from South America working on their summer break who return to school in the month of March. Therefore, many key ski lifts are closed, half of the on mountain dining facilities and restrooms are closed, and very minimal grooming and maintenance of the slopes is completed. To make matters worse Park City Resort oversold lift tickets. Slopes are chopped up by 10am because much of the mountain is not easily accessible with the closure of key lifts and due to the over selling of tickets the fewer easily accessible slopes are overcrowded and destroyed in the first hour. Getting a table is nearly impossible during lunch time due to the closure of half of the on mountain dining facilities. Ironically, Park City Resort raised the price of their lift ticket to $150/day.
Park City usually have 1000 employed ski instructors, this spring they have 250. The employees I talked to were overworked and disgusted with the decisions of upper management. They encouraged me to complain.

Skiing is OK, but ticket prices and low standards of services make it a vad value. $199 for a day poss, and the lifts stopping a lot, lift chairs full of snow and now cleaned up, no wireless in the chalets....... When you charge $199 for a day pass, it has to be perfect and PC sure is not. Its like a Vail wannabe, town is OK, but cars everywhere and almost no place to walk makes it unpleasant to walk around. They need to have walk only areas such as Vail and Whistler to make it a bit better for people who stay in town. Tried it once now, and not looking to go back to Park City. Some good restaurants was the best part, else pretty mediocre and extremely expensive. Totally not worth it.

We were there mid week, not on a holiday but had a wonderful 3 days of skiing. It is more expensive than most places in Utah but the acreage is massive, the lifts are efficient, and the terrain is perfect for intermediate to advanced skiers. Be prepared for amazing views and a slightly pricey lunch.

Stayed in a VRBO right near the town lift. Had a blast And would definitely come back! Snowed for 5 days. What we loved was the variety of terrain for all ability levels .. plenty of wide open blue runs if you are not an expert. We would also recommend staying on the park city side of the resort

What a hot mess. Parking control is very hit or miss, usually a miss, even if you arrive before 8:30. Hopefully you aren't there for the ski school drop off, because then it's even worse.
There is no maze control at any lift, just ticket scanners. Which lane should go next? Depends on who is more aggressive. No wonder the lines back up for an hour or more per run.
They Claim to be socially distancing different parties, but there is not distance in the maze lines, especially at the merge. They claim to allow parties to ride by themselves on the chair, but they don't enforce it. Don't provide space between parties.
And forget about skiing as a single. The singles line is often at the far end of the maze and barely moves. Seems like you need a party of at least 4 to get the priority chair treatment.
I get there is limited terrain, and I was under the impression they were limiting ticket sales based on open terrain, but they sure seem to allow as many people on the mountain as show up. No indication of the number of reservations taken or available to gauge crowds.
Skiing here mid-week is now worse than weekend crowds 5 years ago. Vail really has turned this place into Vail West.

Our family has skied in Jackson Hole, Summit County, Colorado, Taos and the east coast. Why did we wait so long to ski in Utah? We had a great time here and we skied from 1/6-1/10. The crowds were very light since it was between the holiday season and before the Sundance film festival. This was a great time to attend according to the locals.
The runs are great for intermediate skiers and there were plenty of more difficult runs if you a skilled enough for black and double black diamond runs. There were at least 2-3 groomed runs per lift to accommodate all experience levels. The 45 minute commute from the airport is fantastic if you've driven more in other states.
The staff was very helpful and we took full advantage of the "map helpers" that were always available at the top of the lift. They gave us great advice on runs to try.
I did not notice any ill effects with Vail Resorts ownership as some other reviews have noted.

Vail chose a flawed system to address Covid. The reservation system does not allow people to ski, even locals with season passes. Visitors flying in have been unable to ski, despite the fact they bought a lift ticket. Even with the purchase of a pass or lift ticket, you are not ensured a ski day unless you make a reservation. Yet it is close to impossible to actually reserve a day you want to ski. Park City has been turning away families and skiers, even though the resort itself is mostly empty. (This is because people with reservations will ski the first few hours and then leave). The Ikon pass has a much better reservation system that allows for more people to safely ski on the days they want to ski. If you are choosing between Vail resorts in Utah or Ikon, choose Ikon.

Skiing Park City Moutain Resort was our first-time traveling outside our home state. Overall we were pleased except for a few minor suggestions. Head to the top of the mountain as soon as possible since the bottom of the hill gets crowded and the resort had difficulty getting skiers on the slopes. The employees helping skiers load the lifts allowed several chairs to go unoccupied. They did not direct people for efficiency to make the chairs go out full. The scanners were faulty and holding up the smoothness of the experience. Overall, they were understaffed for the holiday.
Secondly, although it was free, which is a huge bonus, the lots were disorganized and undermanned. I had a patron get out of his truck and yell at me that I had to park somewhere else since I was not driving a truck, despite my van being as long as his truck. He was saving space for his friend. When I tried to comply, another truck pulled on my rear and I almost hit him. Chaos is the best word to use when exiting or entering the parking lots at Park City. I had another patron become irate when we were attempting to leave. Cars continued to pour into the parking lot despite the signs they were full. We finally lifted the ropes to exit.
As much as we enjoyed the new terrain, there is no place like Colorado. Probably wouldn't go to the effort again.

I'm not sure what's going on at Park City, I have skied here since 1989 and have never had half the resort closed in January! It's not because there isn’t enough snow, the tree skiing on the parts that are open has been excellent. I think the going rate for people to work the lifts is so low that they can’t get enough people to work. Now that most of their money comes from Epic Passes, they don’t care. They are just being greedy. They don’t care about the ski experience anymore, they are just another greedy, massive, uncaring corporation. If you are planning a trip this year, I would go elsewhere if more of the lifts aren’t opened. And next year you might want to buy an Icon pass!

Is park city mountain ski lifts and rentals etc open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?
Written October 6, 2022
Park City Mountain resort offers many areas to snowboard however, there are two resorts which only cater to skiing (Deer Valley & Alta). Do not let this stop you from enjoying many acres of terrain to ride. There is Park City, Brighton, Snowbird, Canyons, Sundance resort to the south and Snowbasin and Powder Mountain to the North just to name a few additional places you could visit. Come enjoy some of the greatest snow on earth.

Hi -
Thanks for writing that review! When were you there? We're planning to be there Sat. 3/31 - Tuesday 4/3, and I'm just hoping there's still enough snow to make the trip worthwhile...
Thanks very much!

I know it’s been a rough snow year for Park City/Canyons but I’m going there in two weeks and am wondering what parts of the mountains have the best coverage/snow quality this season.
Any advice and recommendations are welcome!

We were there week of New Years when snow was really low. Conditions should be better now as they have had some snow since. With the low snow conditions, we found much better conditions at Deer Valley and fewer lift lines.

Skiing tomorrow? The snow conditions? Is it even possible
Written February 8, 2018
If it doesn’t snow naturally they will blow some to make skiing possible.

Since the Park only has ~ 1/4 of its terrain currently open due to little snow, did the lifts become congested and crowded with everyone funneling into the same areas?
