Purchased a gift certificate for my husband and 5 friends to spend a half day fly fishing on the Provo River. BEST GIFT EVER! The 3 guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and fun without over managing the fishing. Everyone had a great time and we can't wait to do it again!

I would recommend Wilderness Trout Expeditions all day long!!! They were outstanding to work with. Robert was great booking the trip and answering all my questions. Travis (the guide) was absolutely amazing and my 16 year old son caught (and released) 15 trout (Rainbow and Brown). In my son's words, "Best Day Ever!" Thank you Robert and Travis for a day he will always remember!

My girlfriend and I had Travis as a guide. Such a kind and personable person, tons of patience, just a great guy/guide. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking to learn how to fly fish.

Travis, my fish was bigger.

I've been on a few guide services in the past and usually have a great time, we may have gone on a bad day but seems there were little to no fish biting. Between the two of us there was only 1 fish caught, and left with uncertainty on how to set a hook with the fly fishing technique used. Guide was plenty nice, but I think the website setup higher expectations that I experienced. I wish I had known beforehand that the fishing isn't good in the late summer/early fall time period before opting into the service. As a novice and someone new to fly fishing, this may be a great option for more experienced fishermen. The other guide services tended to offer a money-back guarantee for those fishers who didn't catch anything, or at least offer time until all participants caught something but neither happened with them. Again, pleasant company and was comfortable with the guide but had very high expectations that I hope can be met in the future. Wish them the best!

Thank you for your feedback. We do everything we can to set up successful guide trips, but we don't have full control of the situation - it is called "fishing" and not "catching" for a reason! Late summer/early fall can be a great time to fish, but just like the rest of the year, we can't predict the good days from the slow. On slow days, setting a hook can be challenging, even for experienced fisherman. I am familiar with one guide service out of many in the area that offers a "no fish, no pay" policy. The other guide services and I disagree with this policy because the guides work even harder on slow days. We hope you will give our beautiful rivers another try!

Taught myself to fly fish 3 years ago. Wife bought me an excursion to help me learn what I'm doing wrong

Man! I learned SO much and my guide Morgan N. was AMAZING. Pulled in so many fish and he taught me so much. Such a great experience I would HIGHLY recommend!

Summer road trip - fly fishing several awesome spots, with guides lined up in all. Started in Marble Canyon (Lees Ferry), then to Flaming Gorge, then to the Lower Provo. I have been fly-fishing for 20+yrs, but do not consider myself an 'expert'. I've fished the Lower Provo once before about 6-yrs ago. I made arrangements with Wilderness Trout Expeditions in advance. I was fortunate enough to have Robert (owner) as my guide - with the way he operates and carry's himself, I would trust any of the many guides he uses. Ok, now to the fishing....

I had never even heard of the Weber River but that's where we started our full day wade trip. First cast, FISH ON!. Second cast, FISH ON!. What a way to start. We made our way down this beautiful river for about 3-hrs and simply knocked them DEAD! Caught several VERY NICE browns. Robert is extremely knowledgeable - grew up on these rivers and really knows the deal; history, future, and of course HOW TO CATCH FISH. We then had lunch (which was awesome btw - thanks Robert) and took a beautiful drive to the Lower Provo. Robert put us in a spot that was unreal.... again, we had FISH ON! immediately. Fished a killer stretch with many nice deep holes and, again, knocked em dead. Many big browns... such healthy strong and beautiful fish. Robert had the ticket.... they destroyed a small midge fly (Mayhem). Robert was the ultimate professional, very easy to talk with, EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, and just an outstanding dude. Thanks again Robert!

I would recommend Robert and Wilderness Trout Expeditions 100-times of 100! No joke. We talked, we fished, we shared, we had a great time and we tore it up. He has all of the latest and greatest, and takes cards with no issues. If I can I will post a few pics of the fish we caught. Again, I only took a few pics / vids because the fishing was so so good. We would catch, release, get the bugs back in the water, and it was ON again. No time for pics and vids - lol.

This was my first trip to Utah and I wanted to try trout fishing on the Provo River. I booked with Robert Shamy at Wilderness Trout Expeditions and he knocked it out of the park. Roberts superior knowledge of where, when and what the trout are eating had me catching trout all day! Whether you are a beginner or experienced fly fisherman I highly recommend Robert Shamy with Wilderness Trout Expeditions!

This was our first time visiting Utah. My 8 year old son and I love to fish. So we booked a half day trip with Wilderness Trout Expeditions. Both of us are beginners at fly fishing. John our guide did a fantastic job teaching and coaching us how to cast. He was also excellent in working with my son. Who landed 4 trout all on his own. The combination of the fishing, the scenery, and weather created memories that will last forever!

I was in Salt Lake for a convention and decided to arrive early and take a couple clients out for an afternoon fly fishing adventure. I reached out to Robert at Wilderness Trout Expeditions. He arranged all gear for us so after we flew into Salt Lake in the AM, we were on the River by 1:00 and catching trout. Although I consider myself an experienced, life long fisherman, Robert and his associate guide John taught me a few new methods and corrected some bad casting habits. I highly recommend this service for the fly fishing novice and the pro, as they hooked us up with several dozen nice "fatty" Rainbows, Browns and white fish in just a few hours!

This was so much fun. I have fly fished in the past but this was a real experience in beautiful Utah. My guide Morgan was very knowledgeable and helpful. I caught more fish than I could imagine. Mike Drogmiller from Alabama
