Beautiful Resort; Terrible Customer Service Experience
Mar 2021
I went to Deer Valley for a ski trip with my family in March. The resort was beautiful, but we had a very disappointing customer service experience. My brother called the ticket office in advance of our visit and confirmed documentation requirements to verify our eligibility for the military discount. However, on arrival, the ticket office refused to honor it. Staff was unnecessarily rude and condescending in all interactions, and appeared to default to the assumption that we were attempting to take advantage of their policy versus acting on information we had received from their staff. In follow up communications to resolve this, ticket office staff was again very dismissive, eventually ignoring us despite repeated contacts. It is clear that some kind of misunderstanding occurred, but Deer Valley certainly accumulates enough revenue to honor what their staff member mistakenly told us; instead, this trip ended up costing our family hundreds of dollars more than we had budgeted. A resort that treats military families so disrespectfully needs no further business from us, our friends, or our family.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We apologize for the misunderstanding and want you to know that we hold military personal and their families in the highest regard. Our military discount is extended to active, reserve, honorably discharged or retired U.S. military personnel, their spouse and dependents. Qualifying guests may purchase one ticket per designated day, per current military ID and must present the valid military ID upon receipt of lift ticket. To ensure we can continue to offer this discount we do ask our staff to uphold these requirements without exception. We have passed your feedback to our senior management team and our staff at the ticket office. Our goal is to provide the best guest service possible and without feedback like yours we cannot improve, so again we thank you for the comments.

Never been to the west and it was great
Apr 2021 • Family
We had never been to the west to go skiing. Only skied a few times in the east. This resort is excellent. Lots of green runs for those of us still learning. Lots of blues too. It helps that they do not allow ski boards. Keeps us safer. Lifts are good and the people are very helpful. They helped us decide which runs to do and answered any questions we had. The lesson was excellent and helpful for the one of us who needed it. We recommend the Golderner Hirsch hotel as that was right there and a great place to stay. Also the Golderner Hirsch restaurant was outstanding.

Beautiful but definitely not a hometown feeling and be prepared to bring a box of masks
Mar 2021 • Family
Be prepared to spend some money and to be irritated by employees regarding mask wearing even when they standing more than 10’ away from you in their lift station and there is a freezing snow blizzard.
Kind of aggravating to have to pull off gloves in freezing snow just to pull a soaking wet mask an extra 1/2” higher up on your face when you’re already wearing goggles and a gaiter/scarf. Control. Stuff a handful of masks in your jacket for when one flies off your face on the mountain. SMH.
Also this is not the kind of lodge where you can walk in, take your coat off , get a cocoa and warm your hands at the fireplace with your kids. This is the kind of place that you must have a reservation to even get into the lodge and then if by chance they can get you in you will be paying $21 for a cheeseburger that’s smaller than McDonald’s. There are no bunny slopes no snowboarders, no real wood fires to dry your gloves, an elite albeit beautiful place. The runs are beautiful the mountains are gorgeous however next year will be going back to North Carolina for a more family feel at 1/10 the cost.

European feel
Mar 2021
More European feel than the mountain resort area at Park City. Children's club which should be functioning next year. Good dining room. Looking forward to next time.

Increased prices - Decreased service
Feb 2021
Deer Valley used to provide the best ski experience available. Sadly, in the past 3 years, since it was sold to a large corporation, the quality has declined tremendously. The mountain itself is still beautiful. However, the atmosphere and services have gone from “friendly and relaxed” to reasonably courteous and impersonal. Their new motto might as well be. “ give us your money and move on”. This is no longer the Deer Valley we all used to love. It is time to look into locally owned resorts!

Superb ski experience
Mar 2021
We’ve actually been skiing here since 2012. Love the on mountain experience. Very professional and friendly staff, easy lifts, great and well managed terrain, as well as delicious food at the various lodges. COVID has made it more challenging to dine on the mountain but it’s available for those who plan ahead or can be patient. Our favorite resort by far.

Love Ski only
Feb 2021 • Family
I love skiing at Deer Valley with our family (3 children) especially that it is a ski only environment. My children are much safer learning in a skiers only environment. We vacation here twice a year and love it so much. Memories to last a lifetime!

Confused
Mar 2021 • Friends
Skiing Deer Valley is very nice !
However, with Covid rules in effect , I find it confusing. So, waiting in lift lines , the atrendants would ask 2 people ( strangers) in the singles line if it was ok for them to ride together.
However, in the regular line there were singles or doubles who would be ushered on the chair without asking if they could take others with them .Consequently, the lines were long .

Great Place, but not worth the extra price
Mar 2021
I have skied at Deer Valley many times. Its always been a premium place, like Disneyland, but worth the difference. Great mountain, caring staff and nice clientele.

Three years ago, I paid $180 for a lift ticket. This week the website said, $229 which was a bit high but I thought, "This is Deer Valley, its worth it." The ticket window price now adds on tax and fees. I paid. $249.72, a 39% increase in three years.

As before, the skiing was great and the staff is very helpful. Deer Valley is just not worth double the price of other great Utah Ski Hills.
