This motel was established many years ago by Harry Goulding and his wife Mike. It was first a trading post and it has expanded to a gift shop and a regular motel. Monument Valley was used in filming old westerns, and it is still used in many films today. The geologic forms are unusual and iconic to western landscapes. The... More

We staying in one of Goulding's cabins with my elderly parents. What an incredible visit to one of our favorite beautiful spots! While the weather didn't always cooperate (windy, chilly), the cabin and tour were spot on! We'll be back soon.

As part of a bus trip we toured Monument Valley with this company. Be prepared...the dust level is very high and the vehicles are open. Do NOT wear anything white! The dust is red and may not wash out completely. Stopped, I think, three times for pictures and gift shopping. Narrative helpful, interesting, and fun. Our guide even sang some... More

We stayed for one night at the lodge as part of an escorted coach tour. Our air conditioned room had a balcony with two chairs, with an impressive view over Monument valley. The simply furnished room had two double beds, bath with shower over. A sink outside the bathroom. It was clean, there was a coffee maker provided. Breakfast the... More

We climbed into the back of an open side van for our trip to Monument Valley, it was only 10 minutes away. It had rained the night before so the dust had been kept down so we didn't have to wear face covers as suggested by our tour guide. Unfortunately, we did not have a very talkative driver, and when... The basic tour was long enough for us and we able to see more than if we drove in on our own. We enjoyed going inside a hogan and being educated about their way of life. It was a bumpy and dusty drive but overall a good experience. It is true that you can drive your car into the canyon... More

Our time in Monument Valley was disappointing to say the least. The Navajo people in control of this area are milking it for every dollar they can. Whilst allowing it to be the most littered area we saw in three weeks of travelling in the USA.Our prior research on the internet had revealed that we could drive the Monument Valley tour... More

We mistakenly booked into a Kayenta hotel; after riding five hours through wet, wind we were dismayed to discover our error, Gouldings Lodge had space available for us and the kind clerk at MVI in Kayenta cancelled our reservations. When we arrived at Gouldings the sun appeared with a rainbow visible from our balcony.

Clean rooms, excellent service the front desk answered questions we didn't even know we had! Our own private balcony with a view of at least ten of the monuments. Would stay here again.

We got relocated because of a double booking to an apartment without view for 9 people. No wi-fi, but lots of cockroaches. Don't stay here.
