Booked sunset tour for 4pm, but they contacted us to say winter was 2pm. Got there in time, luckily my wife and I were the only ones. Duffy our guide was very informative on the valley and geological history as well as Navajo traditions. Taught...More

Booked an all day tour; going to Monument Valley and Mystery Valley . We have a party of 7 people (12 to 75 years old), and was given a private guide on a Suburban. (We didn't do the open-air vehicle because it was freezing cold...was...More

Really glad we weren’t driving our own car - unusually heavy snow and icy roads. Very very cold but bright blue skies and winter sunshine. Bobby was a superb guide, with a lot of knowledge lightly worn. He judged the timings of the stops very...More

Let's start with we booked this tour with plenty of advance notice and then, 10pm the night before the tour we get a text that the start time needs to change because they don't book them at 4pm in the winter. We were coming from...More

The 3.5-hour Sunset Scenic & Cultural tour of Monument Valley was truly an unforgettable experience, in good part due to Bobby, the fantastic guide that took us through the valley that afternoon. Bobby was very well-versed on the folklore of the Navajo nation, the geological...More

Guide Duffy was outstanding showing, telling, and naming in Navajo for us the ancient land of Anasazi and Navajo, pointing out details we would likely have missed. He shared a piece of his homeland and heart.

We had a very nice tour through the valley with our passionate guide Bobby. The guided tour has the advantage that the guide knows the stories of the rocks and their names. Make sure to check the timezone of the valley as this is a...More

Highly recommended. The tour was just me, my boyfriend, and our tour guide whom I believe was named Bobby. He was very patient, took great care of us, and even played his flute for us in the middle of the valley. Highly recommended.

If you’re camping at The View then there’s a trail right there that will take you close to one of the Mitten Buttes. It’s called Wildcat Trail - it is a little over a 3 mile (6k) loop and except for the very end, is pretty... More

I realise that this itinerary crosses various fora, but if anyone could comment, I would be grateful! (Will cross post in NM). We are travelling the last two weeks in March and understand the weather might be a bit "iffy", but will make sure we bring plenty of layers... Day one Arrive 15.05, overnight Vegas Day two Leave late morning, drive to Zion via Valley of Fire State Park Day three Hiking etc in Zion Day four Leave Zion around 8.00am,...More

Watching full moon on 5/24/13 (3 Replies)
We'll be staying at Goulding's Lodge on 5/24/13. Where will be a good spot to watch the moon rises. Does Full Moon tour organized by the Lodge, also organized by Monument Valley Safari worth it? or watching it from the Lodge makes no different? What about sunrise? Watching from the Lodge or go with a tour? Could anyone recommend a tour company for a 3-4 hour tour of Monument Valley. Thank you.

The best and most convenient place would be the parking lot and viewing area at The View Hotel. Actual sunset will be blocked by buttes at Gouldings but will be unobstructed at The View. Moonrise itself will be comparable at both locations - possibly slightly better at Gouldings. Challenge is on that night is that the moon rises (8:15 pm) prior to the sunset (8:29 pm). That actually can produce some really magical moonrises depending on the weather. Do note that moonrise at The View will be...More

Lotsa miles here...Out of Farmington drive down the 550, turning on the scenic 96 into Abquiu & in to Santa Fe on the 84...Roswell is NOT,worth the time & expense!...I would put another day into Santa Fe...Next day, passing Albuquerque, take the tour at Acoma Pueblo... Plan a overnight at least at Grand Canyon South Rim... I'll bet you will enjoy sunset/sunrise a lot more there than M. Vy! For Gods sake, avoid Phoenix by driving the 89a Sedona, Jerome,Prescott to the 71/60 & the...More
