I really wanted to book a slot canyon tour on a long road trip I was taking, and options were limited. Luckily, Dreamland was open during the pandemic, and were booking tours of Peekaboo Canyon. Two other guys and I signed up for the tour, and Russ was our guide. We took the short drive to the canyon, and chatted easily along the way. Overall it was a chill tour. Russ knew the three of us were there to make photos, and he shepherded us along to make sure we saw the entire length of the canyon, and that we stayed on the more-or-less targeted length of the tour. We had a flat, overcast day with tiny slowflakes falling. It wasn't necessarily the classic scene for a slot canyon, but it scratched my itch within the confines of the pandemic. Prior to the trip, Paul more than patiently answered all of my questions, and gave me a solid overview of the tour options they provided. I felt confident my money was being well spent, and that it was going to knowledgeable folks. After the tour, at Russ's suggestions, we ate at Big Al's Burgers. It was exactly my type of burger, and I would consider moving to Kanab for the rocks as well as the burgers.

I can recommend Dreamland to anyone in the Kanab area. A professional company through and through.

Thank you so much for your awesome review and your recommendation. Russ is awesome and definitely has the "Chill" vibe. And it sounds like you got your fill of photography on your tour. We also appreciate your feedback about Paul and how helpful he is. He makes the experience for our guests so special. So, thank you for telling us! All the best wishes to you, and hopefully again one day in Kanab when you get that last minute itch to do a tour :) Christiane

We recently booked two family tours with Dreamland Safari Tours, and we could not have made a better choice! We were so pleased with the thoughtful, caring professionalism we received!

We were lucky enough to win The Wave Lottery, and lucky enough to have Brett as our guide for that day tour for 4 adults, and 2 kids, 13 and 10. Brett arrived to pick us up exactly on time. He got us loaded in the 4-wheel drive vehicle and was entertaining and informative for the drive there, not to mention a very safe driver. He took such good care of us! He was calm, intuitive and patient, and kept up with all the different levels of hiking ability. We felt completely safe the entire time! His knowledge of the area, the history, and the geology was top notch. He knew his stuff, and was a delight to tour with!

The next day our group took the Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon tour, and we added the 2 younger kids, 8 and 5. As we required a second vehicle for this larger group, Brett and Orion were our guides. Once again, the tour simply could not have been better! We have traveled extensively, and taken tours all over the world. These two men were right up there at the top of our experiences. Brett was just as entertaining and informative as before, and Orion was also a joy to tour with. Both men were informative and so interested in showing us the special things in the area. Everyone had a fantastic time!

Also, when booking the tours, and after we were in the area, we needed to contact the office several times with questions. Andrea was so very patient on the phone, and was helpful and able to answer our questions knowledgeably. Even the owner was very willing to accommodate our specific needs!

I honestly cannot imagine that our trip would have been so successful without Dreamland Safari Tours! Thanks to all of them for being involved and caring!

Where do I start? First of all, Paul was very helpful in assisting the tour, which I decided the Guide's Choice private 8 hour. There were so many tours to choose from and I wanted to be able to see the out-of-the-way, hard to get to places. Paul was awesome in his communication with me and this left a good feeling with me from the beginning. Brent was our guide and words cannot describe this guy. He was very knowledgeable and patient with our group of 7. His driving was amazing as he was able to maneuver the back country. Our first stop was Peekaboo Slot Canyon in the morning and this was the best time to visit due to the morning sunlight. Brent did a good job deciding this as our first stop. I think any other time in the day would not have been as enjoyable. We then went to the White Wave where Brent showed us Anasazi pottery and petroglyphs. We then went to the Hidden Lake Cave and got to visit with one of the natives of the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Corey, who is a paraplegic cat. The workers at the sanctuary were wonderful with him. We ate lunch there and we were all surprised by the Dreamland water bottles especially my wife (unfortunately she left hers at the airport :(). After lunch Brent took us to the Great Chamber and we were amazed at this site. Then finally we ended our trip climbing up the pinnacles. Dreamland Safari is a top notch outfit and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to see the back country of Utah. Everything I communicated with Paul exceeded expectations. This was a trip of a lifetime. Brent was an awesome guide and I loved the fact that he is doing something that he loves. You cannot go wrong with Dreamland!

Your review was so much fun to read, and took me right there with you to the fantastic spots you got to visit on your tour. My heart especially jumped when you shared about Corey. Don't make me cry please (sigh). That place is so special and has an amazing energy. Thank you for taking me there in my mind. And a special thanks for your kind words about Paul and Brent. Paul really makes sure that our guests have the most amazing experience before, during and after the trip. And Brent is one of those awesome people whose love for nature comes out clearly when he guides. Thank you for picking up on that. We believe that authenticity comes through very naturally which makes Brent so much fun to be with on a tour. We hope to see you again soon on one of our tours, especially in 2021 when we celebrate our 20th anniversary. Be well, Christiane

We recently had 2 days of spectacular hiking with our fantastic guide, Sunny, from Dreamland Safari Tours. Fellow AZ hikers had gone on Dreamland’s Buckskin Gulch Backpacking trip with Sunny & Orion. Their overwhelmingly positive reviews convinced us to sign up with Dreamland for The Guide’s Tour. Our group of five, 60+ year olds had wanted to hike the famous Wave, but the lottery permits are extremely difficult to obtain. No one in our group won a permit, but after hiking with Sunny, all 5 of us feel luckier than if we had won the lottery.

Day 1 began at Wire Pass trail, which was the only time we ever saw any other people; then we hiked out to explore the unique & fascinating sandstone teepees. The teepees are literally located right next to The Wave area and share the same geological history. We ended the day with a stop to view the badlands of Old Paria. Day 2 was spent exploring exotic white hoodoos and other spectacular looking rock formations found in southern Utah. Words fail to convey how stunningly impressive both these places are.

One of the main reasons our adventure was so special was our guide, Sunny. She’s a passionate steward of the land, and possesses an immense knowledge of the area’s unique and fascinating geology, biology, & history. She has an exceptional ability to make each hiker feel special. As a result, her hikes are an enchanting adventure of exploration, fun, and learning to appreciate the magic & fragility of these rare geological formations that emerge out of nowhere.

Both mornings, Sunny picked us up at our hotel in Kanab, and drove us out to the trailhead on dirt roads that I wouldn’t want to drive. She packed-in our delicious lunch, snacks, and extra water, and since Sunny works with local search and rescue, safety is clearly a priority. She took us to see evidence of Indian pottery and petroglyphs; showed us hoodoos and explained how they form. She happily took us through slot canyons, and unhesitatingly talked us through them, no small feat considering that our senior hiker is 78 years old. Her love of these remote areas was infectious and through sharing her passion, each of us grew in our appreciation of how special these places are. Yes, we could have gone on our own, but I’m positive we wouldn’t have seen as much of the landscape that Sunny was able to take us to. With her we were able to enjoy the area without crowds. I highly recommend booking a tour with Dreamland, before access to these areas becomes highly restricted, or totally overwhelmed by large tour buses. We’ll be booking again soon.

Your review is absolutely delightful and a joy to read. It's like a hikers journal, and it drew me right into your adventure. Reading about your awesome experience with Sunny I can only imagine how much fun you all had together. Sunny truly brings a wealth of knowledge and especially her passion to the table and makes our tours unforgettable for our guests. With more and more people coming to the Kanab area I think you are right on with your assertion that access to some of these attractions will become restricted over time. We are grateful that we get to be there all the time and get to act as stewards of these special places. Thank you for your heartfelt recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back soon. All the best, and happy travels to all the members of your group, Christiane

My wife and I took 3 all day tours in a row with Dreamland Safari Tours in September 2018 and had a wonderful time on each tour. Everything was well organized from pick-up times at our hotel to lunches to return times. I drive a Toyota 4Runner which is a very capable rough road and even off road vehicle - I was very happy to to leave the driving to Dreamland. They took us on roads that I would not consider driving myself. The vehicles were well prepared for the roads and the guides were superb drivers

Andrea Jasper was our guide for two of our three tours. Andrea was in her first season as a Dreamland guide and she was superb. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were wonderful. She energized the guests with her upbeat attitude. Andrea was very careful to monitor the specific interests, capabilities, and energy levels of the various guests and was willing and able to adjust the day's itinerary as needed to make sure everyone was safe, comfortable and happy.

Dreamland Safari Tours delivered 3 fabulous days of touring to spectacular places that we would never get to on our own. Andrea Jasper is a true gem.

Travel with Dreamland and be sure to request Andrea.

Thank you for such a nice review. And thanks for adventuring with us for multiple days. We love Andrea and she loves sharing her love of the desert with her guests - that's a lot of love. We hope to see you for another SW Utah adventure. THANKS and have a great day!!

Maddi did a wonderful job trekking us through to the the Wave in North Coyote Buttes. The conditions were less than ideal due to heavy rain but it made for a perfect day to go as it was much less crowded and the Wave itself was gorgeous and weather was very cool for summer. She maneuvered the truck expertly across less than ideal terrain without risking safety. Please be aware that if conditions are not good/dangerous that you may have to turn around or go to an alternate location (I believe you can get your $ back from what I understood on the phone if you do not want to go to an alternate location but I’d double check!).

We were lucky enough to win a lottery walk-in permit and the hotel owners recommended dreamland as a tour guide and they lived up to the billing. Maddi picked us up at the exact time at our hotel In Kanab and really did a fantastic job from start to finish from bringing all the essentials (be prepared yourself though w water and certain foods you want although a great sandwich is provided). Looking at the previous negative reviews, seems like some people may have had cancellation fees. Since walk in lottery permits are issued the day before, we were told at time of booking that the only way we could get a full refund is if they cancelled (dangerous conditions), which is quite reasonable given that I booked the tour the day before due to the nature of the lottery.

We were the only ones on our tour but were told that others may join. If you want a private tour, you’ll have to explicitly ask, based on their email which will probably cost extra so just be aware! These guys were great and we lucked out w our Maddi as our tour guide, although I’m sure the other guides are great. She was a great host and made sure we were plenty hydrated and comfortable (as comfy as can be, remember you’re on a hike).

Would love to run this back or a different tour w Maddi and the company some day when we return to Kanab/Utah!

Thank you for your kind review! The Wave tour can certainly be an adventure when our monsoon season gifts us with rainfall, but as you say, sometimes those conditions can make for the most beautiful and unique views that the desert has to offer. Our guides are well-seasoned drivers in all sorts of challenging road conditions and do their very best to ensure smooth sailing and excellent experiences for all of our guests who come to see the desert wilderness firsthand. We're so glad to hear that you have thoroughly enjoyed your tour with us, and we'd love to see you again whenever you're passing through Kanab! :-)

White pocket is an unreal, unearthly experience. The dirt drive out is intense (know the difference between all wheel and 4x4) but 100% worth it. We slept out on the rocks that night and woke up to a wonderland of ice cream slabs and pop corn rocks that can be seen no where else. Although this review is mostly to praise one of the guides from dreamland safari tours.

On our way out we got stuck deep in sand... and I mean deep. We tried for about 45 minutes with logs, digging, the works and nothing would help. It started to rain and we figured we were stuck, in the middle of no where, without service and at the mercy of whoever came by.

Thankfully, we had an amazing guide named Shawn who happened to be doing tours in white pocket that day. From the moment saw us he assessed the situation and started to help. From giving us advice on how to get out of the situation, to informing us on what to bring in the future, to even giving us a knowledgeable and expert science/history debrief on how the rocks were formed. Shawn is the whole package, he has a mellow demeanor, prepared attitude, aware, and an enjoyable joking tone that makes the whole experience worth a meeting. Not to mention he pulled us out, flagged another car to watch us out, and simultaneously helped the couple that was with him to make sure their time was maximized in exploring the area.

Again, white pocket is one of the most amazing places in the southwest but in order to enjoy and fully experience the trip I would recommend Shawn with dreamland safari as your guide.

Good luck to your trip and hopefully you say hi to Shawn for us!

We booked Dreamland Safari because of a recommendation from our brother and sister in law who used them for the Wave. Due to the temporary closure of Coyote Butte South we were unsure if we could go however Dreamland kept us updated and informed with the status and thankfully was opened the day before our permit.

Steve was our guide for an awesome tour of Cottonwood Cove and Paw Hole. The rock formations including several wave like formations with striated coloring was breathtaking. Steve was very informative and hiked us all over and we are avid hikers. The lunch provided was yummy and he had plenty of water and snacks if needed. We felt very safe in the vehicle while navigating the deep sand. Highly recommend this tour company!

Our family of 4 (2 kids ages 10 and 8) took the private overnight trip to White Pocket and LOVED it. It was a truly memorable experience that we could not have experienced without Dreamland. Our guides were not only knowledgeable but thought of every detail. They brought all the gear, including new Kelty equipment (inflatable mats, sleeping bags, tents for every member of the group, etc...) One guide set up camp immediately adjacent to the formation and starting cooking while we were exploring with the second guide during the magical sunset hours (with no one else in the formation but us because the day trippers were long gone). We had dinner all together when we returned to camp and they were very accommodating with our groups food allergies. Water and beverages were always available, as well as anything we could have needed — bug spray, lanterns, etc... they brought absolutely everything we could have needed. We stayed up to see the Milky Way in a dark sky. In the morning we again explored during sunrise (again had the formation to ourselves, with different but just a beautiful light) and returned to a delicious camp breakfast already waiting for us. The trip was perfect and our kids have not stopping flipping through our pictures and talking about it. Dreamland really is offering a truly unique experience. We highly recommend. I wish I could give it more stars!!

My husband and I plus two dogs booked the White Pocket tour with Dreamland Safari Tours and we told some friends and they booked the tour too. It's hard to find tours which dogs are allowed so we were happy when Dreamland is dog friendly. Alex was our guide and he was very patient with us old timers with bad knees. We all enjoyed the White Pocket including our dogs. Dreamland Safari Tours is very professional and really gives your money worth. If you can't see the Wave, then see the White Pocket. This road is very sandy and hard to drive so take the tour and save your car from getting stuck.

Your review is AWESOME!!!!!! Thank you so much for your kind words, and for your enthusiasm. We love taking dogs on tours. And did you know we now even have our own shop dog? Dasher has joined our team a few weeks ago, and she loves going on tours too. We really appreciate you taking your tour with Dreamland. And we are with you, White Pocket is fantastic. It's one of our fan favorites. We hope you can join us again this year as we are celebrating our 20th anniversary all year long. Let us know when you are back in the area. Best wishes and lots of happy travels for you and your furry babies! Be well, Christiane
