Update 10/29/2021 - Alcatraz management responded to my initial poor review (now deleted to show this update) and offered to set our party up with another escape room experience. This time around we were able to participate in the "Chloe" room. We had the room to ourselves, which was one of our larger complaints about the prior experience. The room/experience itself was quite impressive, and had an immersive atmosphere on par with some of the best haunted houses I've visited, with multiple rooms to navigate through. The puzzles were original, fit the theme of the room, and challenging but comprehensible. A live actor was part of this room who did a fantastic job and provided our party with some applause worthy jump scares. Both at the beginning and end of the experience, our host was very friendly, receptive to suggestions (which I didn’t have many as it was a very well designed room), took a group photo for us, and even introduced us to the actor we had in the room. This was the experience I had hoped for and more when we had originally booked with Alcatraz. Thank you to the management and staff of Alcatraz for not only providing our group with a second experience, but for making it one of the best escape rooms I’ve participated in yet. Because of this, I can now change my original review and can recommend Alcatraz and specifically the “Chloe” room to anyone looking for a well thought out and original escape room experience.

We decided to try the zombie panic room and really enjoyed it. We thought the clues were challenging but made sense when you figured them out. The zombie actor added a nice flair to the typical escape room experience. We will come back and do other rooms

We just did Wizard Hysteria in the DFW area with our 3 kids (12, 9, and 6), and they had so much fun! The room doesn't reveal any important information from the books/movies. The only spoiler is that it names 6 of the horcruxes.
This was challenging and full of puzzles to solve. There's only one or two clues that rely on Harry Potter knowledge.
The attendant was super nice, and the room was clean and interesting. It's a little dark, but I suppose that helps set the mood.
If you go with kids, you should know that Alcatraz is inside a really awesome trampoline park. While we were waiting to go to our room, our kids were wanting to check out the trampoline park. 😊
They all want to go back and do more escape rooms!

This was not the best planned out escape room. The puzzles were pretty random and not as logical as I would have expected. We booked Extinct and were surprised when we arrived to find out that we were being put in with another group as a competition. That should have been disclosed at the time of booking. My family would have enjoyed the experience more if it had just been us. We were not expecting that we would be in close quarters with another team. And it was very close quarters! It was difficult to move around without bumping into someone. The game did begin with a cool video giving the background story. So it was disappointing at the end of the game to not have some kind of acknowledgement, video or announcement other than the host in the hallway saying, "you made it!" Nothing happened that made it obvious when there was a winner of the competition. It left us feeling like there was no closure. But the biggest disappointment was not being told we were going to be in a room with another group, especially at this time with Covid still so prevalent. I would have booked a different game in order to be able to limit the number of people I was exposing my family to.

Pretty disappointed with the Extinction room. as soon as we got there they unknowingly placed us in a shared room after we paid $200 for renting out a room on our own (as well as the other group who also didn’t know) so that made the single room crowded when full with two full groups.
Puzzles were okay but there was no direction on what order to do them or context on how they worked.
Staff didn’t care or show any enthusiasm. For paying a premium I’m surprised by how cheap the entire place felt. In their defense, they had a high budget intro video. But also made it more disappointing that when we finished the door just opened and we we told by staff “time to go home”

Honestly, I haven't been so I don't know how they are as an escape room. I absolutely will not be patronizing their business ever if I can help it since they sent me a bunch of spam texts despite me never interacting with their business in any way. I do not think businesses that bulk purchase emails and phone numbers are ethical companies or deserve to be rewarded with business for perpetuating violations of privacy.

Best experience! We've now been to Alcatraz twice, and both times were amazing! On our most recent visit, I took a group of mostly 11 year olds for a birthday party. The attendant helping us with our room was friendly, informative, as well as extremely helpful and patient. He gave the kids numerous tips, and was attentive throughout our hour. They also allowed me to accompany my oldest son with special needs as his companion in case he needed help, free of charge. All the staff we've interacted with have gone above and beyond, the rooms we've done have all been super fun and creative, and we've had the best time every time! Highly recommend!!!

We had a private corporate event, using the place to ourselves, and had a fabulous time. We used the Prison Bus, Death Row, Pirate Ship and the Wizarding one.
The attention to detail in the rooms were great, and the staff friendly!
My only little suggestion would be for better aircon in with outside escape rooms. They did have a fan blowing the the pirate ship, which helped a bit, but with 8 of you in the room and figuring clues, it got rather toasty!

We took the whole family to celebrate my husband's birthday. None of us had done an escape room before, so we did not know what to expect. It was so much fun! It was intense (in a good way) and challenging (in an awesome way). It felt like we were really in a zombie apocalypse. We managed to escape with 44 seconds to spare. All 6 of us, ranging in age from 11 to 46 had a great time. We would highly recommend it!

We took our softball team and they did the Wizard Room. They had such a great time, and it promotes teamwork. The staff was very nice and helpful. This is actually the 4th time I have been, each time with different groups. Twice we did the Wixard Room and the other times we did the Distopian Room. The first time I did the Wizard Room was years ago and even though this room doesn't change, I was able to help solve problems that I did not do the first time, so it felt like a new expierence. The Distopian Room does change so you are able to do this one several times without getting the same clues. Such a great time, thanks.

ok-you wont need help and you wont be alone doing it. They will not run the room with less than 4 people and most of the time is a full crew of 10 to 12. You are never alone unless you pay the $250 to book the room yourself. Relax and have fun.
