Worth the drive from Park city for the amazing views
It was definitely worth the 45 minute drive from Park Cities to backcountry. The views were absolutely amazing while on the snowmobile tour. We got a good mix of lead follow and time on our own to drive the snowmobile. The equipment was an excellent condition, and the guides were friendly and very hospitable.

    Scenic Snowmobiling
Had the best time! We were worried there wasn’t going to be much snow for the snowmobiling but we had just enough and had a great time. Our guides Conner and Gage were awesome and pointed out wildlife along the way, highly recommend these guys!!

    Amazing Guide and Unparalleled Scenery!
Backcountry operates tours at the highest elevations so has the best snow condition and views. Our guide, Gage, was fantastic and took extra time to teach us about the things we were seeing. At the summit, the kids were able to play around in fluffy fresh snow - it was truly a fantastic experience.

    Great Experience!
This was our first time on a snowmobile and are so happy we chose Backcountry Snowmobiling. Our guide, Gage, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable of the equipment and the land, and was prepared with extra gear when our 10 year old got a bit cold. The trails and views are stunning. We even saw a few Elk along the way!

    Great day in the backcountry
We took the 3 hour tour with party of 8 including adults and teenagers. Julie did a great job of leading the tour and customizing to our needs and wants. Great way to spend a day in the outdoors and would highly recommend ! The fact that they have extra gear / clothing to rent makes it stress free. Our teenagers and young adults had a great time and are still talking about the adventure we had. Only 1 in our group had operated a snowmobile before but it was easy to learn with Julie’s assistance.

    First time on a snowmobile
The four of us decided to share two snowmobiles. Both drivers were first timers. It was a blast! Scenery was amazing and got to see my first moose. At the midpoint we were able to play around in a meadow with jumps. Connor was the guide. He did an amazing job.

    Great Family Excuraion
They took such good care of us! We had to rent boots and there were a bunch to choose from. Our guide Julie was amazing! She took some of the best pics of our family during the trip. Fun drive out too on a day we didn’t ski. Definitely worth going.

We arranged a private 3 hour tour for 4 sleds just after the new year in 2021. One staff member didn’t have a mask, so we stayed clear. I don’t remember the name of our guide but was not an issue with at the beginning. The first hour or so was fine, except we had to turn around on a very small trail because I guess the trail was not groomed and so narrow not really sure. Then the guide just brought us back to the base ending our tour in 2 hours...even though it was clear that it was a three hour tour (our guide told another guide when she talked to another passing guide on the trail not long after we started) Nothing said of why except “oh yeah....we will refund the last hour” I very disappointed with the professionalism. I doubt I would arrange another tour with them for that reason.

Me and my family (2 sons 15 and 17) did the 3:30pm tour one of the days of our ski vacation. We selected Backcountry over other options because they would allow our 15 year old w a driving permit to drive his own snowmobile. Overall we had a great time and would do it again.

What we enjoyed: The tour group was a nice size, not too large. The trails take you through some beautiful countryside, which was made even more interesting since we were able to drive back at dusk/in the dark. We enjoyed our guide, he did a good job of leading the group, making sure we were all having fun, etc. And he was a good sport when one of our sons ran his snowmobile into a snow bank - he got everything sorted out and we were again on our way. It was fun for the boys to have the chance at the end to drive fast down the old airstrip.

What was not ideal: The drive from Park City is LONG, and you are really out in the countryside. Cell phone reception is spotty. Not a major minus, just be prepared for a long drive. Also, a minor point, I would not say the place has great curb appeal when you drive up. No flush toilets and their facility is a large shed. Again, as long as you expect it not a big deal.

A heads up: When we rode the trails, they were a little mogel-y, so you did have some up and down bumping. We don't snowmobile at home so I have no idea how the quality of the trails compare with other areas. I'm guessing it's fairly common. In any case, this again points to the fact that this excursion is for the more adventurous types.

Our teenage boys loved the snowmobiling, and that's high praise given how hard to please they can be. :)

Our group of 4 did the 3 hour snowmobile tour. It was a great experience. The machines are top quality and in great shape. The scenery is spectacular. Our guides AJ and Tucker were very helpful and made the trip fun. We recommend Backcountry for anyone looking to enjoy snowmobiling in the Park City area.

Seven of us (4 adults, 3 teens) took a two hour tour at 1:30 p.m. on the 22nd of February. Four of us had never driven a snowmobile. They gave good instructions before we took off. Everyone loved it. Our guide, I wish I could remember his name, was great. We spent time on groomed trails but also took time out in a meadow testing our skills. Scenery was great. Dressed appropriately, we were all comfortable and never cold. We had some free hot chocolate before we headed back to Park City. I would highly recommend this tour and look forward to going again.

Our family had a blast riding the snowmobiles. From helping us parking to the very detail about how to operate the equipment and all the other details thru our 2 hour tour, the crew had all covered. Our guide Jay was great, showed us the trails, open area (let us go nuts with the speed and turns) and took us they the woods up to 11,000 feet elevation. Just amazing, just a great time. The best of all, our 5 year old daughter was comfortably riding with dad in the front of the sled and she only wanted more speed and more bumps. Awesome experience. Thanks Backcountry

We paid for 2 hour snowmobiling based on reviews. Our tour was to start at 330 but due to folks coming back from the last tour, we got off to a late start. Only then to find we were going to be shuttled to a staging area, which took at least 15 minutes. Then we all had to wait and listen in groups to directions so by the time we were ready to go it was another 15 minutes. Getting to the area where we could drive around on a "track" was great & kids had great fun & we were promised we would do it again on the way back. When we got to the "picture" spot, we had to sit for a good 20 minutes just killing time. Everyone was ready to go but it seems the drivers had to kill time. Then on the way back, due to it getting close to dark, we totally bypassed the track area even though we were told we would do it again. Then we had another 15 minute ride back to the building. The guides were great but this was in NO way a 2 hour snowmobile adventure. Then as we got back, they suggested we leave a tip, which I get, but when they told us the suggested amount was $90 for our group of 5, I was like you have got to be kidding. The actual drive time was fun but I would not spend this money again. My understanding is the "staging" area etc was not normal but only because of the low snow amount so I strongly feel we should have paid way less. It was very pretty but not worth the $. We werent the only ones disappointed. I heard other folks complaining as well & even one woman rolled her eyes & shook her head when she heard the suggested tip of $90.

My husband and I had a wonderful time during our backcountry snowmobiling outing! Our guide was very knowledgeable, ensured our riding experience met our expectations, and made it a point to watch for wildlife. We were lucky enough to see four moose climb a snow-covered hill because of his expertise. Thank you so much for an incredibly fun and memorable experience!!

Hands down best snowmobile experience ever. In the past I've rented snowmobiles in Mammoth & Tahoe and they cannot compare. Backcountry Snowmobiles was 10X better. Highly highly recommend, this truly is a backcountry snowmobile experience. Snowmobiles are legit, was able to hit speeds of 60MPH.

As first time snowmobilers, we had a wonderful time... the comfort and security of the guides staying with you was very reassuring. Once we made it to the open area, we pushed that sucker to the limit and felt like pros... because you were right there, giving guidance. It was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back.

Our family had a great time!
The mountain views were awesome, our snowmobiles ran perfectly for the
3 hour tour. Our guide Toby pointed out a moose in the hills.
Recommend this for a family winter outing, they supply helmet & goggles, bring snow gloves jacket, pants & boots, but you can rent snow gear there also. December temps were in the teens the day we went. Cheers!
