We ( four of us) did the ride the full day ride which turned out to be about 7 1/2 hours! Awesome trail guide, Kevin. This guy is awesome. The horses were very well suited for this rugged adventure. Lots of opportunity to stop, rest, take photos. The box lunch Ruby's provided was great. Fresh. The horses are well kept, in great shape, and treated like Co-workers rather than just horses.
If you are looking for an awesome experience, use Ruby's.

We took the 1 1/2 hour ride to the canyon rim at 8:30am. Beautiful ride through the forest to the rim of he canyon. Gorgeous views of the hoodoos! Bud, our guide, was great! Very conscientious, good history with a few jokes thrown in. I was very impressed with the quality of the horses! Fun ride, even for people with no experience!

Great ride through Willis Creek and Slot Canyon with our guide Kevin.
This was our 2nd ride with Kevin. He is experienced and very knowledgeable of the area. He makes sure your tac is correct and that your comfortable with both your saddle and horse.
The horses are also experienced and a pleasure to ride.
The landscape and canyons are amazing at and around Bryce. This ride we rode through narrow slots in the canyon walls, through streams and rocky terrain down inside canyon walls.
We stopped for lunch provided by Ruby's which was very good before our ride back, which we had 2 options. We chose to go back the way we came because it was just so fantastic.
I mentioned this was our 2nd ride with Kevin and the 1st was on the Thunder Mountain ride.
That ride is also amazing with big fantastic views, unbelievable sites and some technical riding. The horses do all the work for you, sit back and enjoy!
Already looking forward to our next ride with Kevin next year on the all day ride.

We took the 1.5 hour ride. It went through the Dixie woods and looked over Bryce Canyon. It was flat and mostly woods. You see the Canyon for a few minutes and you’re back in the woods. We rode in Moab and had a better more interesting experience with a different company there. Overall it was pleasant but nothing special.

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the 1.5 hour ride as much as you had hoped. Please know that I appreciate the honest feedback as it can always help us to make improvements. If you're ever inclined to give one of our longer rides a try, we'd love to welcome you back! Hope you have a great rest of your week.

We decided last minute to take a break from hiking Zion / Bryce and to instead see Peekaboo Trail by horseback. I haven’t been on a horse in over 20 years and hit out voted by my family. Turned out this was a great way to take in this steep and rugged terrain involving 6.5 mile and 1600’+ foot elevation difference. Was nice taking in the scenery while letting the horses do the work and watch the trail. Our guide (Carter) was friendly, funny and professional. Horses & mules were in good condition and assigned to each person based by rider experience & proper fit. Highly recommend this 3 hr experience.

They leave their horses completely saddled up all day in the blazing hot sun. The extra weight & heat is not good for the horses

We took the 3.5 hr ride. The ride itself was only 2 hours, on the dot. They took over an hour to assemble and drive us in their van to the starting point in Red Canyon, then it took time to get everyone mounted and on the trail. Be aware - It was a complete misrepresntation of the ride. I would ask specifically "how long are we on the horses?" so you are well-informed about the ride and expectations. Ask specifically where you will ride and if it is a loop trail or if you go up and back the exact same trail! Because we rode up and back on the SAME trail, no new scenery. When I sign up for a "half-day" ride I had expectations to see varied scenery and get guided about the history of the area.
In essence, our 3.5 hour ride was about an hour of new scenery (beautiful, of course!), then an hour of the same scenery on the way back. The wrangler/guide said very few words, my 10 y/o (who loves to ride) asked him questions about the scenery, the kinds of agriculture, birds and kept asking to try to get the guy to talk a bit and tell some stories or give some history. He obviously didn't know about Bryce history and had one story to tell about Butch Cassidy - all of 2 sentences. My son asked if he knew anymore about Butch cassidy and he said, "nope, thats all I know."
THe horses did not seem happy and di not seem well-cared for. My horse seemed sad and disinterested, and perked up a little bit the last 30 mins knowing he would be going home soon. Towards the end of the ride, the wrangler's horse started favoring his front leg - we had about 30 mins before the end of the ride. It was dramatic, not just a few stumbles. The horse was clearly hurting. When I said something to the wrangler, he said, "we are almost back. he is fine." When I told the wranglers trailering the horses, they could care less! I was so angry that I supported this place! NEVER AGAIN!!!
I have horses and know a bit about their care. It would ahve taken the wrangler a minute to jump off and take a look in the horses hoof to make sure a rock didnt get stuck. If he saw a rock, add another minute to clean it out and be on our way - its an easy fix and saves the horse lots of pain and possible bruising. Terrible - I felts so sad for these horses. Wrangler was clearly untrained and unprepared to give this tour.

We were signed up for a 4-hour intermediate-advanced level trail ride. We called and left a msg three days before to confirm because the weather was looking poorly. The call was never returned. The morning of the ride, we called again just to make sure the ride was to occur and to confirm the details. We arrived and the ride seemed to be going as scheduled (albeit rather slow). Just over an hour into the ride, we noticed we were back near the starting point after a simple walk-trot ride. They did not put us on the 4-hour ride, but on the 1-1/2 hr ride instead. Why didn't anyone check before putting us on the trail about which ride we had paid for? That could have been taken care of in less than a couple seconds, making everyone happy.
The money was refunded, but there is a big problem with management of this outfit. Be careful and confirm everything before your ride and maybe a couple more times before you jump on the horse.
Also, for the safety of beginners, you should bring some kind of helmet along. None are offered at the stable, and it's a long fall off of a horse, even if the horse is only walking.

My wife and I took the 1.5 hour trail ride last year and it has taken me this long to cool off at the way we were treated. I’m not the type that writes bad reviews, but I must let it be known that this was a very bad experience.
Although the ride was beautiful, the customer service was horrible. When we signed-up for the ride the evening before, we were told to meet at the front desk at 10:00am for the 10:30 ride. Although we were on time, we were met with a sign stating “Be back in 5 minutes”. Twenty minutes later, with no one returning to the desk, I walked to the stables to see the wrangler taking a couple out on horseback. I shouted that we were scheduled for the 10:30 ride.
The wrangler got very angry and stomped up to the front desk to sign us in, then yelled orders to my wife and I about getting onto the horse, etc. I have a bad hip and requested a step up. The wrangler shoved my foot up into the stirrup, and pushed me into the saddle, causing me much pain and discomfort throughout the ride.
The wrangler spent most of the ride flirting with a young woman with children. He was extremely condescending and very rude to us throughout the ride. If not for the beauty of the canyon itself, the ride would have been a 100% poor experience.
I will never take a ride with this outfit again.

Is there parking available and if socan you leave your car to visit the park once you've done the horse ride?

The stables are across the street from the rest of Ruby's. Parking's not a problem.

If you aren't up to a 5 hr ride one of the days can you go on a 1-2 hour ride as an alternate?

Ruby's Horseback Adventures
Bryce Canyon City, Utah
Thanks you for your question. We do offer other rides then just a 5 hour ride. If you are referring to the Ruby's Grand Adventure Ride, it is setup for long rides for the days that you are riding to show you a lot of our area in the time you are here. In the past we have had people not want to ride and just miss out on the days ride. But can get you on our shorter 1 1/2 hour if that is what you would like to do that day. If you have any other question please let me know.
Thanks Brad
