We climbed the 220 steps recently. Being from flat country the climb looked challenging for us 70+ year olds. We were so glad that there were handrails because about 2/3 way up it does seem a bit high and I felt wobbly. Along the way there are painted rocks with encouraging messages until at the top one says "You made it and you didn't die." Great 360 degree views at the top. Definitely worth it!

We started out at a fairly fast pace and then quickly realized we needed to slow down. Over 200 steps but all well worth it! The views from the top were amazing and this ended up being one of our favorite things from our weekend in Wimberley!! Can't believe we had not heard of it on our many previous trips... we will be back!

Nice workout to 360 view at the top. 218 steps from my reading. We met several locals using this as part of their workout routine on way up & down. Windy at top but welcoming breeze to cool down. This is in a neighborhood with few nice home being developed. No entrance fees & about 6 parking spaces off the road in front on steps.

I want to know if it same place as called "Old Baldy" at 34 La Toya Cir, Wimberley, TX 78676?

Is Lookout Mountain something different than that the place above I visited this weekend?

We couldn't find it. We drove all around where it was supposed to be and couldn't find anything that wasn't private property. No signs on Sharp Rd about it. So, I would ask a local exactly how to get there.

Old Baldy, near the heart of Wimberley is a great place for hiking. The view from the top is beautiful.

After your hke enjoy refreshments at The Lodge at Cypress Falls, minutes away in Woodcreek.

This place is best called "Old Baldy". It is not at the address shown but on La Toya Circle in Wimberly. Thanks to a local cowboy who mapped it correctly telling me he has helped other lost people.

The view is nice, a 220 rock stair path in great condition.

You'll need good walking shoes to climb the many steps up to this lookout spot. It had a great 360 degree view of the area. We enjoyed praying up there. Another couple looked like they were enjoying a picnic.

This fun stop is a great way to see the whole valley of Wimberley and the surrounding areas. It is 218 steps to the top, but goes quickly and the 360 degree views at the top are great. It is right in the middle of an older community and has about 6 parking spots at the bottom where the stairs start. If your unsure of how to get here stop by the visitors center in town and they will give you printed instructions on how to go there... and actually go to the visitor's center anyway! They gave us a WEALTH of information. Things to do outside like this, and EmiyAnn Gardens. Both free and allowed us to walk our dog along with us. Old Baldy or Lookout Mountain, here, is only about 3 miles outside of the little town square area.

Okay, this is confusing. There is nothing at 5300 Mt. Sharp Road. If there once was something here, it's gone now.

Lookout Mountain a.k.a. Prayer Mountain a.k.a. Mount Baldy is at 33 La Toya Trail. There's room for about 4 or 5 cars to park. You'll see the stone steps and a sign that says "Prayer Mountain." It's 220 steep steps to the top and not for the faint of heart. Much of the way there are no handrails, and where there are handrails, it's just a wire strung between metal poles. But if you make it to the top, the view is gorgeous. I recommend this for healthy, cautious climbers.
