Great park for the family, beautiful views... We went there with our photographer for family photos. I couldn't believe how nice this park was and we didn't even know it existed. Would recommend to any and all.

We go here every once in a while. It has some trails to walk and a few pavilions for parties. It has a nice place for the kids to play.

This is a very nice park with lots of trails to walk, biking trails, duck pond, 2 play grounds (one for smaller children & one for older children) & many pavilions in which to hold birthday parties or family gatherings. Frisbee golf & camping areas are also available. We go at least once a month.
The only down side is the bathrooms have no curtains or doors inside but they are clean. We usually just go in pairs so that someone can stand outside & block the entrance. Other than that it is a very nice & well kept park. :)

Let’s start by saying this…..I know the history of VIDOR, TX. Over the years one would think that it has gotten better over time Maybe with the changes in how the nation is currently. I took my girls to this park on a Saturday. This park is absolutely gorgeous and fun for family time, working out or just relaxing in nature. The park supervisor/gate worker is rude. I don’t believe the Orange County Parks Department knows how rude, unpleasant he is as he rides around honking the horn as if it’s an emergency to exit this park at closing 30 minutes before time. About 15 minutes before closing time the worker began to harass/honk his horn again at the few park visitors left on the property as if NO ONE sees the 7:00 pm closing time when you ENTER and while on the property ( at this time EVERYONE is preparing to exit on their own) Depending on where they are in the park it takes time to finish your walk etc. He speeds past my vehicle yelling “the park is closing” repeatedly, rolls his window down and puts his hand out the windows with a back and forth motion as in to say speed it up!! .. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!…. Hopefully someone at the department see this and fix it!. Stay safe everyone

Have nice covered shelters with fire pit & bathrooms for very reasonable deposit to reserve for a group gathering. Great playground for little ones, plenty of parking, walk trails, bike riding, plenty of space for about anything..

All pavilions with bathrooms are shutdown due to hurricane damage 2 years ago. Public venues in the county appear to be the last to get repaired after natural disaster.

Several years ago, my first experience with Claiborne West park was because of a planned trip by the ASSET astronomy club to stay late and set up telescopes. The sky was nice and dark and fairly clear for this area, and we thoroughly enjoyed having the use of the site. Claiborne personnel discontinued allowing people in the park after closing time due to some abuses later on, and we have since had to find other places to meet, but the park remains a quiet and beautiful place to come during the day for other activities. I would definitely recommend the frisbee course (print out a map online), and to just come down and spend a quiet morning or afternoon in the beautiful surroundings. I have heard that there was damage to the park during the Harvey flooding, but that they are working to get things back to normal.

Fishing for the kiddos just watch out for the native wildlife. Trails to hike on. Long loop to walk or ride your bikes. Frisbee golf. Multiple playgrounds, and picnic areas. May reserve the softball field, amphitheater or one of the covered picnic areas with tables and restrooms.
