All pavilions with bathrooms are shutdown due to hurricane damage 2 years ago. Public venues in the county appear to be the last to get repaired after natural disaster.

Several years ago, my first experience with Claiborne West park was because of a planned trip by the ASSET astronomy club to stay late and set up telescopes. The sky was nice and dark and fairly clear for this area, and we thoroughly enjoyed having the use of the site. Claiborne personnel discontinued allowing people in the park after closing time due to some abuses later on, and we have since had to find other places to meet, but the park remains a quiet and beautiful place to come during the day for other activities. I would definitely recommend the frisbee course (print out a map online), and to just come down and spend a quiet morning or afternoon in the beautiful surroundings. I have heard that there was damage to the park during the Harvey flooding, but that they are working to get things back to normal.

Great park for the family, beautiful views... We went there with our photographer for family photos. I couldn't believe how nice this park was and we didn't even know it existed. Would recommend to any and all.

Fishing for the kiddos just watch out for the native wildlife. Trails to hike on. Long loop to walk or ride your bikes. Frisbee golf. Multiple playgrounds, and picnic areas. May reserve the softball field, amphitheater or one of the covered picnic areas with tables and restrooms.

Easy riding bike. Small gated area for kids to swing and slide and play away from the road. Pond had ducks at one time/ Covered areas for gatherings; open area fields that you can fly kites.

This park is a nice place to just take a nice relaxing walk among the trees. The lake is pretty and the frogs are vocal. There is a lot of birds singing and small wildlife running around. My dog loves to walk around on a leash looking at the different things of interest to her. Just a pleasant place to relax.

This is a very nice park with lots of trails to walk, biking trails, duck pond, 2 play grounds (one for smaller children & one for older children) & many pavilions in which to hold birthday parties or family gatherings. Frisbee golf & camping areas are also available. We go at least once a month.
The only down side is the bathrooms have no curtains or doors inside but they are clean. We usually just go in pairs so that someone can stand outside & block the entrance. Other than that it is a very nice & well kept park. :)

On the developed side of the park there are a few trails. It is more for walking and hiking but the trails are probably 2 or 3 miles if I had to guess. They were developing another section a few years back but with three tropical systems and some major flooding over the past 10 or 12 years I believe that has gone by the wayside.

I don't know how much it is now. It has been a while since I rented a pavilion there. But, I do know that you will get your money back if the pavilion is clean and the thrash removed.
