Stopped in for a visit to this small zoo and was pleasantly surprised! This zoo was started with only birds, and they still have a lot of different birds in residence. They have more parrots then I have ever seen at a zoo. They have...More

This place is really nice. Well kept, tons of animals. Food, snacks and all kinds of stuff. Tons of displays that let animals be in a pretty nice natural habitat. It's a great place for kids and adults.

EXCELLENT...enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to go back weather permitting. I live in Tyler and didn't know what I had been missing. Family in town and suggested we go. Not disappointed at all.

You are allowed to feed the giraffes lettuce, and also had a lot of neat animals their in a clean enviornment. The staff is friendly and have a nice cafe to eat in. They had a few monkeys, however no chimps or grorillas.

I've been to this zoo several times and plan to return. The zoo is small enough that you can see all the animals without feeling rushed, and the design of the enclosures allows you to get great views; attached pictures taken with my phone. If...More

I haven't been to the cafe since they've remodeled and upgraded, but I know they used to have burgers and salads, chips, snacks, drinks, and those delicious frozen lemonades! Expect the usual high prices you pay at any kind... More

There is a little café on the property. Limited selection of snacks and things like fries (possibly hamburgers and hot dogs).

Not inside the zoo. Per their website: "Outside food is not allowed on zoo grounds. The zoo does offer family picnic spots in our main parking lot, adjacent to the zoo’s main entrance."

A trip to the Zoo and BBQ and Mums (0 Replies)
Tyler has a great zoo and today we visited it. Caldwell Zoo is on the Northwest side of town and with the cooler weather was a good day out. We have been there several times but today was the best "animal day', with lots and lots visible. On the way home and about two blocks from the zoo we stopped at Hickory Fare for BBQ. ---the best we have foumd in Tyler. The unsauced brisket was delicious--had to bring home a pound!! The coleslaw was also delicious, the potato salad was good but not my...More
