About
Built in 1936 the Liberty theater was the place to be on the downtown square in Tyler, TX. It was the hub of entertainment until it closed in the mid 1980s. The City of Tyler purchased the Liberty in 2009 and rehabbed the facility. The City raised more that one million dollars in private donations to fund this stunning renovation. Our goal is to spur the revitalization of Tyler's historical downtown into an arts and entertainment district. Liberty Hall reopened in September of 2011 as a community performing arts hall that hosts classic movies, comedy, music and theater. The Hall is also available for rent to the public for events. The Liberty is once again a cornerstone of entertainment for downtown Tyler. Since our opening we have hosted such performers as: Suzy Bogguss, Asleep at the Wheel, Gary P. Nunn, Bob Schneider and Ray Wylie Hubbard. We also have live comedy shows almost monthly.

Great place
Aug 2019 • Couples
We saw the Malpass Brothers. It was a great show. The theater is small, so any seat is great. Nice and clean. There is a small concession in the lobby. I especially liked that we said the Pledge of Allegiance before the show. I love America! I will definitely attend other shows here.

Fantastic Little Venue
Sep 2018 • Couples
Drove to Tyler to see Gene Watson. Never been to the Liberty before. We were both absolutely delighted in every way with the venue. The acoustics were great. The sightlines were fantastic.
Very cosy and intimate environment.
Looking forward to our next show there.

Great Little Theater!
Aug 2018 • Couples
What a beautiful job the city did renovating this little theater. It looks just let me it did when I was a teenager hanging out Fri and Sat nights! The people who work the events are extremely friendly and helpful! The seats are comfortable and there’s not a bad seat in the house. They bring a variety of different types of artist that fits most everyone’s taste. I highly recommend if you have not gone to a show there GO! You can their show schedule on their web site or on FB.

Great Shows
Nov 2017
Love the shows at Liberty Hall Theater. Saw the Michael Jackson and Elvis impersonators. They were awesome. The only bad thing that happened was the smoke alarm went off during the MJ impersonator's show. The staff had a difficult time turning them off.

We've been here for a town hall meeting with a discussion panel, a live concert and a classic movie showing...all very different and each one enhanced by the venue. Nice local place to support and visit often. Sign up for emails to get advance notice of upcoming shows.

Can't wait to come back!!
Aug 2016 • Solo
I'm new to Tyler and wanted something different to do..... Decided to go to a 1980's John Hughes movie. The theater is beautiful Art Deco and clean and comfortable. The movie was funny and the crowd was appreciative. I ended up going back the next week for another movie. Now I find myself checking their event calendar to make sure I have opened up my schedule so I can attend more. Liberty Theater is going to be my new favorite thing !!
