Dolphins, shells and serenity

There are several good restaurants. Plenty of surf and sand and meeting places at he free beach. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and plenty of time to enjoy it.

We were very happy with the beach. Very nice. Gulf beaches I've experienced before were not very clean...of course that was another state though. At the time of our stay it was a bit on the chilly side, 50's and 60's. It was clean and not many people, which made our sea shell collecting quite easy. We got quite a... More

Surfside charges a fee to use part of beach. Drive farther north and you will come to the free beach. No crystal clear water here, but fishing can be very good at times. Not the greatest beach, but it's all we got.

Great little beach town in Texas. Great swimming beach with gradual drop and lots of shallows for kids. Great for boogie boarding and just general beach fun. Drive on beach, goes for miles. Back bay is great for fishing, kayaking and bird watching.

We went to the Stahlman park pavilion. Walked down the ramp to the beach. We used to go to Surfside often. Kids have left home. We aren't interested any more.

Cleaner and less crowded than Galveston, we enjoy paying less for a beach house rental. It's only a lovely 40 minute drive up he coast to Galveston if you want to go there for a day trip.

(Around the Ocean Village Hotel, at least) It's a typical beach for this part of the world: vegetation and buildings away from the beach, a flat coastline. One downside (which may be typical in this part of the US; I've lived on the west coast) is that vehicles drive along the beach. Besides how ugly they make the scene, walking... More
