Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Quite a few turtles to see and various presentations during the day. The entrance fee is by donation only. Definitely worth going!

Wonderful to see people helping nature. You can see the turtles close up and learn their stories. Great place to take a child to learn about the importance of taking care of our Eco system

I have visited annually. I have watched small turtles be rescued and released. The staff love these turtles and the work they do.

We had an amazing experience at Sea Turtle Inc.! The staff was very nice and informative, and getting to learn about the turtles and their conservation was great! Not to mention it is free, but definitely worth putting a small donation in the donation boxes. They do important work there! Definitely a must-see for a visit to South Padre!

We visited Sea Turtle Inc. on our last morning of vacation and loved it! It's a great way to spend an hour or two expanding your awareness of sea turtle life on the Texas coast and beyond. The staff are very informative and ready to answer any question we threw at them. The turtles are in tanks with handy steps... More

We visited the place on a workday. It was not crowded and we liked seeing the turtles very much. We also listened to the interesting speeches/presentations given by the staff. All in all it was a very nice visit. The will be enlarging their site considerably in the near future.

Great free, educational fun for all ages. The only con was that you can't touch the turtles, but it was still great, especially if you love nature. The volunteers were also very knowledgeable and kind.
