Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island",...

Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

This is a sea turtle rescue. If you want to see sea turtles up close, this is a great place to do it and stay dry in the process. They had several turtles in at the time due to a flash freeze a few weeks prior to our visit. They operate 100% on donations and that money definitely goes to... More

Great experience. All of us really enjoyed learning and seeing the turtles. Short program is worth sitting through...Great job keeping it simple, short, and relevant for kids and teens to listen too. Listen to program first, they will tell you about some of the turtles they have. Gift shop was also great with good prices.

I was so amazed by the personal stories these turtles have had and how many have been fully rehabilitated and released back into the wild. These people have had a major impact on the numbers of wild turtles. It... More

This is an amazing place. They rescue sea turtles and cure them of their problem. From getting caught in nets to having amputations by boats. They have lectures that all ages enjoy. You can feed some that are in a large tank. Their gift shop has appropriately sea turtle shirts, etc. that are moderately priced. When the moms come ashore... More
