About
We create memories! The Wells family has served South Padre Island for 5 generations and we create memories that last a life time! Our Adventure Park is located at the end of State Park Road 100 with forty acres of land spanning from the Gulf of Mexico to the Laguna Madre Bay that provides an unparalleled location for Adventure on South Padre Island. Our horseback rides are along the beach and water's edge and we often see a variety of shoreline and marine life and we get to ride in the remote portion of the Island that few people get to experience. No crowds here! Our Petting Barn is filled with birds and animals we have rescued or have been donated to us for a forever home. Children can enjoy a safe and educational interaction with all of our birds and animals (us big kids too). Dolores also owns The Massage & Healing Arts Center and her licensed and professional Massage Therapists are ready for your pampered needs after a fun day at the beach. Come; make your memories with us! We love what we do and we look forward to exploring the Island with you soon. Doyle & Dolores Wells

Moonlight horse back riding - loved it
We did the moonlight horseback ride and strongly recommend it. It was a beautiful evening and the guides took care of us. We had an 8 year old along and they really watched out for her. Our taxi was late picking us up and the guide Rollie gave us a ride back into town. We really appreciated his kindness.10/10 I would go again.

    Sunset ride on the beach
What wonderful memories...great staff and well organized. My horse was a character and definitely entertained me the whole time. Just pay attention to your surroundings and your horse and you will have the time of your life. Thank you for a great experience

    Great experience
We had a great experience. Brandon, our guide was the best! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with our group. Brandon also gave us advice on local restaurants which we followed up on! He was absolutely right… drinks and food were delicious at both locations! We loved our horseback beach ride with Brandon!

We recently visited South Padre island and saw the advertisement for horse back riding on the beach and zip lining. The adventure park has a combo called the bucket list where you can do both at an affordable price. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely come back and maybe do the sunset ride. They also have a petting zoo where you can feed and pet the animals.

My friend and I were on a road trip thru Texas and spent a few days in South Padre Island. Of course we had to take a sunset horseback ride on the beach! The group was just the right size, not too big. There was a young girl riding and the guide took special care with her and carried a lead rope to keep the rider and horse close and in control. Safety definitely seemed to be a priority throughout the ride. Our guides were Olivia and Tristen who were both fabulous; Tristen did a great job at playing photographer, too! We got to ride through the water a bit, see a beautiful sunset, and learned that they have over a hundred rescue horses there. There didn't seem to be much to the "petting zoo" part of the place and we didn't do the ziplining so I can't comment on that. But the horse ride was incredible and would definitely recommend!

This was a highlight on our vacation. We did the bucket list package, rode the zip line after horseback riding while the sun was starting to go down. The horseback ride on the beach was the perfect length and the horses were well behaved the whole time. It was a wonderful experience, definitely memories made. The staff was absolutely wonderful Aubrey, Jenna and our two tour guides. Book at least 1 day ahead for 10% off.

Having been horseback riding at a commercial ranch before, we did not expect a crowd of 25-30 riders with a handful of wranglers. We expected a peaceful, leisurely, easy-going ride along the beach. It was also my daughter's first time to ride alone. They gave her 10 seconds of instructions, separated us to mount our horses, and then were going to let her just ride off on her horse alone. I hurried to catch up with her (and I'm glad I at least know how to manage horses). I feel sorry for all the people who were riding for the first time. There were way to many people for any of them to get much individual direction. The worst part of this trip was one of the horses dropped and partially rolled on his rider (an elderly man!). He could have been killed. He said he was just really sore and his body ached. The wranglers blamed the horse's behavior on an "itchy back," but I noticed that although they switched horses with the elderly man, the horse who tried to roll him off, continued this behavior. And this horse's behavior upset my horse. So, I spent most of this trip in a ridiculously crowded group of riders trying to avoid the wild horse and keep some safe distance around my daughter and I. One of the other horses also kicked mine because it got too close. This company makes you sign a waiver and then you are literally on your own. They don't take any responsibility. People who are new to this may not ever realize that horseback riding does not have to be crowded and unsafe. Afterwards, I talked with the elderly man and he told me the wrangler said that horse does that (tries to "itch his back" aka rolls riders off) all the time. Wow. Just wow. And they're still putting unsuspecting folks on it.

I was enjoying the beauty and relaxation of the South Padre beach. I saw a large group of horses and riders approaching my area. All of the sudden, one of the horses laid down out of sheer exhaustion with a very young rider on it The rider barely escaped the horses body weight which could have easily trapped him. Horrible experience. I have grown up on a ranch and been around horses my whole life. The only reason a horse does this is because they are dehydrated or can not breathe to the saddle being cinched too tight. The next part even got more horrible. The young child was standing very close to the ill horse. Employees began to jump off their horses and instead of securing the horses with one of the employees the horses ran wild. The group of riders were not taken back to the stable while all of this was occurring. Then the staff began to jump on the horse full force wedging their knee into the the horses body over and over again. Everyone’s is still watching, horses are still running loose. The horse finally gets up. The staff puts the saddle and blanket back ON the struggling horse and proceed to make it walk a long distance back to the stable. This is not an organization that should be serving people or being allowed to care for horses. The horse should have been picked up in a trailer and tended to humanely. The horse should have never been put in that situation by a 32 year establishment that “care deeply for horses” as the office staff assured me. The boy should have been immediately moved away from the horse. The other adults and children should have been taken back to The stables to not witness this event. The horses should not have been running wild. I called and asked to talk to the owner. I was told to call back tomorrow that my concerns needed to be heard. However, the staff did NOT take my number. If you were the owner and you truly cared about your animals and customers, wouldn’t you want to know about this immediately. They are hoping I do not call back tomorrow. I will and I will also publicize this event to the best of my capability to ensure this does not happen again. PLEASE do not go to this establishment.

Great time with the sunset horseback riding. Make sure you arrive 30 minutes early as it takes time to sign the waiver and get loaded up onto the horse. Good pace, staff was friendly. My 6 & 7 year old sons were able to ride a horse by themselves. A guide lead their horses for the duration of the trip. Also, be aware that the horses go pretty much at their own pace (some like to hang back, others like to be in the front) so if you think that your family of four is going to walk perfectly side by side the entire trip you will be disappointed, however, you are within a short distance of each other at a maximum so you can still see your party. Otherwise a great time and I would do it again.

Our guides and the staff were the highlight of our tour, including the office folks, Ryan, and 2 Latino males (whose names we're sorry we did not get).
Sadly, the group we went with was HUGE (maybe 30 riders) and members of our group, including children and first-time riders, were separated out and had to ride with strangers. The horses seemed well cared for, but were competing for leading the pack and there was quite a bit of biting and a little misbehavior on their parts.
The seashells along the ride and the stretch of beach was very nice and the guides did an exceptional job herding 30 horses with more than a few novice riders along a beach that was traveled by a LOT of cars. It was impressive.
The longhorns at the stables were AMAZING to interact with and the check-in process was smooth and stress free. Sure wish the groups were smaller and that we would have had the opportunity to trot a little or do a couple of more-adventurous things.

We will be back if ever in the area. The horseback riding was the best part of our trip. It made our trip very memorable and helped make our trip to the area a trip of a lifetime. Our guides were great and very helpful to those who had very limited experience on a horse. They also have a small petting zoo and provided feed to feed some of the animals in their little zoo.

My wife loves horses, and I love my wife. Thanks to SPI Adventure Park, I was able to treat her to a private sunset ride on the beach for our 7th Anniversary. Since we have experience with horses, we were able to go out with our guide, enjoy the scenery, and have fun! Our guide Chris was passionate and experienced, and he told us that many of their horses are rescued, re-nourished, and retrained. My horse, Pete, had an attitude, but honestly that was half the fun. (Don't let that scare you. They'll do their best to match you to a gentler horse if you have no experience.) A private ride at sunset can be pricey, but it was worth it for horse lovers like us. Thanks for the memorable anniversary experience!
