We are not into birding but we enjoyed a variety of species on our 2 hour visit to the center. Not crowded and the boardwalk takes you through various habitats with different varieties of water fowl. Good for the whole family and it was time well spent.

The indoor exhibits are interesting and informative. Boardwalk through is a great way to burn an hour or more. Nice variety of wetland birds, turtles, gators, etc. visible along boardwalk. Sighs assist novices with identification. Small admission fee but well worth it. Nice gift shop.

Not huge, you can see it all in an hour. Excellent film introducing the local birdlife and the unique South Padre Island ecosystem as a stopover on intercontinental bird migration. The boardwalks take you past a variety of waterfowl, large and small. It's easy to watch the birds hunting for fish and interacting with each other. We also saw several... More

Loved my trip to the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. I have been there twice and loved it both times. I saw so many animals each time and so close up due to the raised walkway. Herons are some of my favorite birds to watch anyway so I really enjoyed watching those.

We went here for one of the early morning Birding tours. The tour was very nice with a knowledgeable guide pointing out many species of birds and talking about each. There were quite a few different kinds and they for the most part were close. Very reasonable entrance and a small museum. Well worth a few hours of your time... More

This very well kept walk around acres of wetlands full of migrating birds, herons, egrets and alligators is an easy walk and very wheelchair usable. The naturalists are informative and tourist friendly. If your going to there for awhile you should go more then once.

This Nature Center is mostly staffed with volunteers which makes it even more interesting as they are there because of their passion! We saw many birds and 3 alligators. We also learned about the habitats and migratory habits. We ran out of time and did not get to walk the butterfly are but all the animals are free and in... More

There is lots to read about and the walk on the board walk is very enjoyable. We went on a cool day, so there were not many people around. Lots of different birds and the views are stunning.
