We camped at nearby Bastrop State Park which is connected to Buescher via 10 mi scenic drive. Actually wished we were staying in Buescher due to the more abundant shade. Took the kids fishing and had a picnic. It's a wonderful little park.

The RV sites on Cozy Circle are very nice, clean and paved, and large enough for our 36 foot fifth wheel. All 30 amp. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites on the other loops are too small for an RV bigger than about 20 feet. The bathrooms were clean, water pressure wasn't great and didn't have any... More

It is a gorgeous park, but it doesn't feel like there is much to do. No swimming (have to drive to Bastrop) and the lake badly needs a fishing dock. Some of the camp sites are really small, but the cabins are really neat.

We had never visited here but really enjoyed it. It is fairly quiet even on busy weekends. The lake is awesome and has some nice Bluegills.

What a nice park. We actually liked it more than Bastrop state park. Even with the fires in the fall of 2015, the camping area is still surrounded with beautiful trees. The screened shelter was perfect with our 18 month old who still naps; when you shut all of the shutters, it was pitch black even during the afternoon sun.... More

Buescher State Park is small enough to be very accessible and fun. It's a great place to camp or stay in simple primitive cabins. There are plenty of pine trees left from the recent fires and lots of rocks that need to be skipped across the lake!

My wife, daughter and I camped in the park in a travel trailer. We stayed in the cozy circle area. The sites have level concrete pads with only water and electricity. Many of the trails were closed due to the devastation of the forest fires. This did not dampen out trip. The restroom/shower facilities leave a lot to be desired.... More

We stayed here for two weeks and it was so nice and peaceful! We rented a canoe and went canoeing that was a first for my children and they really liked it a lot. They have a nice playground too. Hiking trails are clearly marked.

So don't trust Google maps on directions to get to the front gate (go on 95 past 71 instead of turning onto 71). But once we got there, it was a very nice park. We did the premium screened shelter which was clean, had shutters, a ceiling fan, and picnic table inside; there were 2 other tables outside and 2... More

This state park didn't get torched by fire like Bastrop state park did, this park is great for mntn. biking or just plain hiking, mostly shaded, some creek crossings can have water/muddy areas if it rains, lots of interesting rocks out there, lots of critters & deer. The park has lots of DEAD trees from the drought, but has more live trees, worth the trip, has a... More
