Went to Retama Park for the evening and played the dog races. It was excellent. The staff were very helpful and personable. Had a great time.

Been to Retama Park once several years ago and it was pleasant. Nice crowd but not too much. Clean, food and drink abundant. BUT NOT THIS TIME!!! Hubs and I went on a Saturday evening to see the Camel and Ostrich Races. I've been to them before in California and they were a hoot. But all the San Antonio gates... More

This was a great first experience to watch live horse racing. Their web page and Facebook pages give you some info. Here's what it doesn't say: Live Races friday & saturday during certain months, Free parking (before 5:15pm at least), $2 entrance and may sit Anywhere until 5:30pm because some people pay an additional $20 for reserved seats, $2 seating... The food is good and the place is very clean. The place is not overly crowded and the price is OK. I only go when there is live racing, so I can't review the simulcast events.

We attend the Triple Crown Races every year and this year, our experience will cause us not to return. There is a sad lack of wait staff and the food came out a couple hours late. The carver struggled with a dull knife and how a kitchen can not provide proper tools to a carving station is beyond comprehension. The... More

I always enjoy coming here every May. Lots of interest and fun. They need more staff for drinks, food, and especially bets. Two people for an area to collect bets doesn't move the line fast enough before the race begins. Lots of frustrated bettors. Lines are everywhere but then again it's the busiest time of the year.

Bracken Cafe long known for the excellent hamburgers has moved to the 'old' Pancho's resturant at the corner of the parking lot. Lots more room, same people and great food. Open in am at 0730 Monday thru Saturday

We came to Retama Park on a Saturday night with an other couple and had a really good time! The actual races a pretty short(about 30 seconds) and run about 15-20 minutes apart. There is smoking inside, so just be aware. They also have an awesome craft beer bar with very reasonable prices!

We stayed at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort and the park wasn't to far away. Once the races got started it was fun to watch with a group of friends. Drinks are ok, food could be better and betting is pretty easy, once you get the hang of it. Would go back, definitely!
