The murals in San Angelo are stunning. You can enjoy from your vehicle OR park the car and walk around for an up close look at San Angelo's history. These are interesting for all ages.

An excellent summary of what life once was in San Angelo, very well done, and really appreciate the talent and vision of the artist.

In addition to the murals, which are just lovely, there is something called the painter's alley, or the painted doorways. It was a project some years ago, which is still there, created by local artists who each received a part of a wall, or doorway to a building, to create a work of art of their own design. It created a bright and eclectic alleyway of some amazing art. I have to admit it broke my heart to see some of these destroyed by vandals, but it was still an amazing walk that brought out fun conversations and even inspired me to come home and try my hand!

It was a very hot afternoon and we were wanting to look around town and decided to see how many of the murals we could find. We drove up and down most of the downtown streets to see what we could find. We didn't plan things out well enough to try and locate them before we went so the ones we found were by chance. After looking at the pictures people attached, I think we found most of them. I liked how there wasn't a lot of traffic so when one was found, we were usually able to find a place to pull over to take a better look at it. My father took his pilot training at Goodfellow AFB back in the 50's so that one was of particular interest to me. After we did this, I looked at the website that showed the pictures and mentioned where they were located. I wish I would have used that to help in our search.
