My husband and I enjoyed watching the birds in the Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary many times over the past 20 years. This was our first trip back to Rockport since Hurricane Harvey. The bushes that once cover the island in the middle of the Sanctuary were gone and so were the birds. No more Rosette spoonbills, Snowy Egrets, Pelicans and Great Blue Herons. Little Bay’s water was still very blue. The Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary runs along the entire distance on Broadway Street along Little Bay. I am sure the birds will return when the bushes grow back.

My husband and I back to the Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary again this year. I have been there many times over the past 21 years. Before Hurricane Harvey, there were bushes covered the island in the middle of the Sanctuary and there were Rosette spoonbills, Snowy Egrets, Pelicans and Great Blue Herons. I was hoping sanctuary was restored but that had not happened yet. The Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary is located along Broadway Street and the entire distance of Little Bay. Little Bay’s water was still very blue.

Plenty of place to park along. Pull off and the birds are everywhere. Just follow the road around. There is a dead end kinda place with a plaque about Connie and plenty of parking with good birding, You'll love it.

We arrived here after a substantial rain fall and found the trail open 95%. The trail winds through live twisted oaks and is a natural pathway. Expect to see birds and find adequate seating for watching and resting. /The trail is not long, approximately ten to twenty minutes to walk, but intimate and interesting.

This sanctuary is right on the main road into Fulton Beach. It is nothing more than some pulloffs on the main road. There no amenities of any sort and people are looking out over the water while driving so you have to be careful not to get run over. People are wading or fishing and the view across the water is of some condos and summer houses on Key Allegro. Bird sightings are minimal given the activity.

As birders, whenever we are in Rockport, we visit the Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary, named after the woman who put Rockport/Fulton on the birding map as a hotspot for coastal birding. Especially during migration, the sanctuary is teeming with passerines that drop in exhausted. During the winter, many northern birds stay here. Excellent for children.

this was a great place to take the young children to see a variety of birds, and feed the gulls bread

My husband and I stopped a few times at the Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary during our 5 day stay in Rockport. Little Bay’s water was too blue and the islands were covered with birds. There were more birds in the Sanctuary than any other place we saw in the Rockport area. We saw lots of Rosette spoonbills, Snowy Egret, Pelicans and Great Blue Heron. The Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary runs along the entire distance on Broadway Street along Little Bay. This is a must stop if you are in the Rockport area.

I stepped into the sanctuary not knowing what to expect, and immediately heard some birds singing - saw a few flying about, then a beautiful cardinal. Came upon a small marsh, and saw a trio of juvenile white ibis. Very satisfying.
