You can see the entire South Padre Island from atop this historic lighthouse, first lit in 1853. A replica of the lighthouse keeper's cottage is on the grounds.

We stopped by the lighthouse grounds on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself wasn't open yet, but we still had a nice stroll around the grounds and were able to enjoy it without any crowds. There were a couple young girls posing for pictures...More

Beautiful view of Port and Isand. Wonderful little museum, nice shady spot to sit under the trees below and central to cute shops and fun eats of fresh seafood. They are re-doing the outside rail on top, so we missed the excitement of that part....More

Easy to find and with impressive history, visiting the lighthouse is worth the trip. We decided not to climb to the top, but enjoyed the grounds and the information in the keepers cottage.

We walked around the grounds of the lighthouse. We chose not to walk up to the top due to my fear of heights. Not much else to do here.

Great view from top if you are able to do the steps. You can see for miles. 360 degree view, but be sure to heed signs and watch your head.

Great place for kids to experience history. You are allowed to climb to the top where you can see all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Great place to visit and learn some history. Took some great pictures at the top. But it has about 100 steps and is very narrow so not good for the older population. great views

Gives the history of the area and lighthouse. Had a very nice conversation with a staff member of the museum. She was very helpful and friendly.
