A very nice area with such important historical significance. I wanted my son to know about it. There are public restrooms.

My husband and I visited Fort Travis on a Monday mid-morning. The old concrete bunkers were nice to see but are in poor repair. Lots of rebar was showing and there were lots of cracks in the concrete. There is a very wide and super...More

We visited Fort Travis after taking the ferry over to dolphin watch. It's a nice park with lots of open grassy space that would be great for kite-flying. We wished we had brought a picnic lunch with us. There are some walking trails that lead...More

Wish the site had more explanation about the historical use of the location over time. Good day trip from Galveston because we brought our kites. The wide lawn was perfect for kite flying with no hazards to hang up a kite.

Stopped at the park on our way to the ferry. It was peaceful and quiet with beautiful views of the gulf and boat traffic. I do wish there were more details available to explain exactly what we were looking at. If you do stop, research...More

This was an interesting stop while just out exploring. The grounds are well kept, but unfortunately the historic buildings are in just awful condition. History from pre-civil war up through WW II can been seen here. Too bad that funds obviously have not been available...More
