Nice place to picnic or fish. There is not a lot to do for kids. I did not see a play ground. Mostly folks fishing at the seawall. Go when it's cooler. I have fished there, but did not catch anything. I think some crab...More

This was our first visit to this park and we loved it! The parkgrounds were very clean. Walked around reading about all the history that happened here. One really interesting thing available here, there is a number you can call for a self guided tour...More

What an unexpected find! This is a really cool place, but it takes some real effort to get here, and if you’re there at dusk, don’t forget the bug spray or the mosquitoes will make a meal of you! We were able to spot several...More

I stopped here as I was passing through the area. In the American War Between the States, this is the site of a significant Confederate victory. Richard “Dick” Dowling and his handful of troops, defeated a much larger Union force. They captured two ships and...More

This historic spot is worth a visit... To learn about the tremendous impact this place had on the state of Texas during the civil war... We especially enjoyed the telephone audio tour.

Yes it was August and hot. We went early. Happy to see sidewalks as one of us had a walker. Good storyboards around the park. The down side---bugs. Biting flying pestering bugs. We did not stay long enough to fully appreciate all the work done...More

Great and safe place to fish! Never too crowded and safe for little ones! Always nicely kept and friendly "security" that will stop and visit!

The small pavilion has a good explanation of the battle and what led up to it. There is a great walking trail with sign boards for the different parts of the battle. The monument itself was very nice and honored the dead on both sides....More

This was the site of an important Civil War engagement (Shelby Foote covers it well). The site is picturesque on a sunny day. There is nothing left from the Civil War, but there are WW II bunkers on the site. The markers tell the story...More
