Our Whooping Crane Tour on the Skimmer with Captain Tommy could not have been better! We especially were happy with the owners for working with us when we had to cancel our original tour due to a family illness. Yvette scheduled and rescheduled our tour until we actually booked a date. It was late in the season and we weren’t... More

Captain Jay and Debbie did an outstanding job on our tour. Captain Jay is very knowledgeable about area wildlife and in particular Whooping Cranes. He mixes humor with facts and welcomes questions of all kinds. My husband, me and my 79 year old mom took the 7:30 AM tour and couldn't have been more pleased. Captain Jay stopped the boat... More

We took the whooping crane boat tour and it was magnificent. The captain seems to know every bird species and variations thereof. We got to see a Whooper family up close plus learned to identify several other bird species. On the return trip, the captain picked up several pods of dolphins and convinced them to 'surf' in the boats wake.... More

Since 2006, we have tried them all, from this big boat all the way down to a small charter that was little more than a glorified ski boat. Of the public tours, I would rate this second, behind the Skimmer, in ability to get you close and provide a good photography platform (assuming there are birds to get close to...the... More

Captain was well versed in the cranes and other birds in the area. Was able to get us up close to the cranes as well as a number of other birds. The boat was set up well for viewing, the tour length perfect. Bring binoculars and a warm jacket. Warm coffee on board and a check list of local birds.... More

A 4 hour cruise. The Wharf Cat is old but very functional. Great commentary. Saw lots of whopping cranes and heron, ibis, egret, three kinds of gulls and more. Food service is not good--microwaved stuff and bags of chips. Drink service (Beer, soda, coffee) is OK. Cost $50 per person.

we left at 7:30 in the morning from Port Aransas. this tour usually goes from Rockport but there was a whooping crane festival in Port A so they left from there for people who attended the festival. It took about an hours ride before we saw our first cranes. they were good about describing what birds were around in the... More

Be aware that this business is actually located closer to Rockport than Port A. But, it's so worth the drive. If you enjoy bird watching, you will have an awesome time on this trip. We'd been referred to Captain Tommy by a bird watching friend in San Antonio, and he was right -- Tommy is the best. We were also... More

Though we had seen whooping cranes in a field while driving in the Aransas Pass/Rockport/Fulton area, the best views are by water. Capn Tommy, the pilot and guide for this tour, is knowledgeable and passionate about birds. Constantly scanning for species we hadn't seen yet, he pointed out not only the whooping cranes, but the crested caracara, the oyster catchers,... More

Went out on a bay cruise for a rather somber occasion to spread a loved ones ashes on the water. Tommy was able to keep it light and fun, with Jimmy Buffett tunes playing and pointing out some great siteings of birds and dolphins. When the time came, he was helpful in suggesting how to sprinkle the ashes and very... More
