Go do it. Family bonding. Best experience ever. Amazing crew.
Best experience for family of 8 with 6 & 12 year old. Deck hands helped little ones. Caught 16 fish. Concession lady knows her stuff about sea sickness with pickle juice. Captain awesome for helping 12 year old. Crew even threw fish down to help person not catching like the rest of the group. Captain moved multiple times so we could find the good fishing spots. Someone even caught a mackerel on the ship. It wasn't us but was cool to watch.

Wonderful deep sea trip. Captain and crew were great!!!
Could not ask for a better first trip. First time out on a large boat (Wharf Cat) deep sea fishing. The crew was wonderful. The deck hands eased my wife's fear and anxiety not being able to see shore. Captain put the vessel right over the fish. It was a few minutes later other guests were reeling the fish in. Eventually, we each tagged out on red snapper (2 each). Also caught a king mackerel and a few more red snapper which we had throw back due to the tag limit. The best part of the trip is we did not have to take off any fish, the deck hands did it for you. Overall experience was wonderful.

Definitely a must if you are in the area!
My son and I did the fishing excursion and we both had a great time. We both caught many fish. The staff on board were amazing. They were all very knowledgeable about fishing and were very helpful with our catches. We definitely want to go back and do the deep sea fishing.

This was a great fishing trip. I went on the 6:30AM trip, on opening day of Federal water's Red Snapper season. The Captain put the Scat Cat on top of a Red Snapper reef about 1 hour and 30 minutes after leaving the dock. On the trip out, the deckhands distributed nice quality rods and reels in rod holders along the sides and transom of the boat. The boat had about 25 fishermen on board and everyone caught their allowed 2 Red Snapper. The Captain moved the boat to a new location after everyone had their Red Snapper limit and we then fished for shark, There were at least 3 sharks kept by fishermen and I was told they are very good eating fish. On the return trip to Fisherman's Wharf marina the deckhand clean the boat from the bow to the stern and prepared the boat for the afternoon trip. I would highly recommend fishing on the Scat Cat or the Wharf Cat (sister ship). They are big, stable comfortable boats. The staff at Fisherman's Wharf are very helpful and answered all my questions before and after booking my reservation.

If I could give it no stars I would. We arrived at 6am to be 1st in line to pick our spots because it is 1st come 1st serve as I was told over the phone. Obviously that doesn't matter because I was cut in front of by a couple that showed up late. I even told the crew they said tough luck. The off duty deck hands took up the entire back of the boat told us paying customers it was off-limits while they fished the entire time. They told us they were going to put out big lines to catch shark or whatever. One line was put out at the very end of the trip for about 20 to maybe 30 minutes. I guess this was to justify their reasoning on telling the paying customers the entire back of the boat was off-limits. I witnessed the off duty deck hands catch several fish. They filled up an entire basket. I gave them the benefit of doubt that they would split them between customers that didn't catch anything. Definitely not I watched them clean and keep every fish they caught. By forcing everyone to the sides of the boat to fish only made it over crowded and very difficult to catch anything. Every time you'd hook up you'd become entangled with at least 3 to 5 lines. It made it almost impossible to catch anything. While the off duty deck hands where reeling in fish after fish. I have several pictures of proof as well. Definitely wouldn't waste my time or money. I also added a picture of the deck hands taking up the entire back of the boat and them fishing.

Wow we get to Fisherman’s Ward with a confirmation email for our trip from 2-8. We get there at 1:40 to depart at 2 and they tell us the boat has already left. They changed the time from 2 to 1/30 and said they tried calling us at 1:30. I have an Apple Watch and phone so even if my phone e doesn’t ring my watch does. No missed calls. I showed them they indeed do NOT call me to reschedule. Then they said well we sent an email! No thee confirmation email states 2-8 I showed them. They then tell us we can take a trip tomorrow and when I decide that yea we will do tomorrow they tell me that it’s only for 2 people not a family of 4 but they can get us on Sunday. No Sunday we fly home. This was the one experience my husband and boys were looking forward to!!! We were refunded the money. Horrible business and do not ever recommend using Fisherman’s Warf.

Scat Cat is a great boat. Outside deck is covered, so the sun and rain stay off you. The boat was smooth and the beer is cold. Inside was nice and cool in the June heat. I did the 10 hr trip and we went 30 miles out and was told 150-200 feet deep. The crew was very helpful and I would take the trip on the boat again. The Captain let one of our kids drive for about 30 mins and trained him well. He has a job waiting for him in 10 years. The boat had about 35 fisherman for about 60 spots so it was not that full which was nice for us. Equipment was good and bait worked fine. We used frozen squid. There was a group of retired veterans that brought on 3 or 4 poles of their own and sat on the rear of the boat and had a great old time. Everyone caught there red snapper limit in the first few stops so we moved on the b liners (vermillion snapper) and we caught plenty. A sand shark was caught and a few king fish. Catching a hour nap on the way back, tops off a great trip. After pictures at the pier, you can take you basket over to the chop up station and get your catch cut up for 50 or 60 cents a pound. It was busy, so we had to come back 2 hours later. The pier is nice and clean and all the staff was great.

If I could leave -5 stars I would. I participated in the 6:30am-12:30pm charter this morning. I was less than satisfied with the behavior of the deck hands. They behaved extremely unprofessionally, ordering patrons to move out of their (the employees) way and pull up our lines so that they could attempt to catch a shark. I was advised, as more than one of them dropped a line down, to pull my line up to make room for them. I’ve been on multiple charters in this area and not once before this trip has a captain stated that they purposefully placed the boat on the outside of the group of fish vs directly on top so as to assist paying customers with the experience of catching said fish. The deckhands weren’t very interactive during the 6 hour trip until they were going around the boat at the end asking for tips. Six hours to catch two fish and not be allowed to put a line back in the water is hardly what I expected with the price on this trip. The views were beautiful, it was the bluest water I’ve ever seen, but I will not be returning to this company.

This trip was a mixed bag for our party of 9 people. The facility was very nice, the deckhands were awesome but some of the methods FW used were not good to us.
First off, I notified the captain that we had an older disabled gent in our party and we requested he be led to the back of the boat where is was shady all the time and not near as rough. We were instructed to sit him down near the back of the boat and someone would come down and situate him properly. This was never done. 1st strike. The captain made two stops to find fish unsuccessfully and after an hours ride we ended up in the area of the flower garden reefs. Our party of 9 were all given two snapper tags apiece which we all filled. 18 fish total. I kept track of the tag numbers on my phone.
We arrived dock side, fish were brought up and hung for pictures and piles on the deck. Two or three of the deckhands started yelling our numbers for us to collect our catch. Numbers were flying fast and constant. Our group ended up short of fish. Obviously someone had taken a few of our fish during the melee. My complaints fell on deaf ears of the deck hands. I finally had to go to management to air our problem. The manager was able to find us enough fish to satisfy the total number. Next came the fish cleaning. 3 in our group thru in together to get our 6 fish cleaned and bagged. These were all big snapper, but what we got back amounted to 8 fillets. 4 Short. Back to management I went. At this point he just held his hands up and told us tough luck. After spending ~1500 bucks on this boat for the measly fish we caught, I cant give this any better of a rating.

Our party of 6 arrived very excited about going out on the 9 hour trip. When we had gotten to the first spot the captain trolled around trying to put us on the fish. When he told us to drop our lines I noticed that he didnt drop the anchor ( not what I was accustomed to.) I have been on these trips more than a dozen times or so. I didnt think much of until i noticed all 40 of our lines were drifting into each other and not to many fish were being caught. After 30 minutes or so and the bite stopped we pulled up and moved locations. After a short ride (no more than 5 minutes) we were back fishing. And again all the lines were getting tangled as some fish were being caught. I hooked into what could have been the biggest fish of my life. So, naturally I backed off of my drag a little , didnt want to break off, when the deck hand walked up and turned it all the way up again and my line snapped. A friend i was with also snapped off 2 times at the same spot. So, we were instructed to reel them up so we can move again. After repeating the process of moving, i started to notice that we were only going in circles and fishing the same non-productive spots. Finally a friend that was with our group got hooked up to a decent fish. In the process of reeling it up he noticed a birds nest in his reel, so we was trying to fix it while fighting the fish in. When the deck hand YELLED at him not to do that. Again the deck hand reach over and tightened the drag and snapped the line. Our whole group is a experienced group of outdoors men and we know what we are doing when it comes to fishing. Get new line on your reels, dont keep circling the same non-productive spots, drop the anchor so we can stay over the fish and not try to drift over them.

After all that I think ill stick with The Dolphin Dock.

Went out on a Friday for the 9 hour trip. Boat was about half full. Water was rough so many folks had to be in the cabin. With folks getting sick and no AC, that was a bad start. When we got to the snapper beds I had wrongly assumed that we would fish 3 or so hours and work on size. It was obvious that the goal was to get everyone two fish as fast as possible. As long as they were over 16 inches, the crew tried to keep them. Then we went drifting for kings. Not sure if it was bad line or poor knot tying y the crew or both but boat only got 7 (4 by 2 locals with their own gear) and most were quite small. I lost 2, one broke off and one the knot gave and neither were big fish. All in all, felt like we were hustled.

We had a great time. Deck hands and crew did a great job and gave a lot of tips and help in catching fish. I caught the limit of 10 on Vermillion snapper. Caught about 10 huge Red Snappers, but that season doesnt start until June 1st. The Scat Cat is a wonderful boat. Covered all around. Didn't get sun burnt. With the catamaran hull, we were very stable and nobody got sea sick. I would still wear the patch or take the non-drowsy dramamine. Fisherman's Wharf is a class act. I saw a neg review about deck hands fishing off back. We all drew numbers for who got to reel in anything big the guys out back hooked onto. I was number 6 and didn't get a chance, but the first couple of guys took turns reeling in about a 100 lb shark. I don't think the revuewer knew they were trying to hook the big stuff for us to reel in and keep. Great time. Snapper Fishermen, get ready.

Fantastic weekend with the family fishing for red snapper aboard the Scat Cat - we all caught our limit and had a great time! The captain was so nice and even invited our 2 year old grandson to "drive" and honk the horn, they even took time to show and explain their new radar equipment. The deck hands and staff were so friendly and efficient. Definitely an enjoyable experience for all of us and can't wait to go again!
