I felt like an honorary Ewing :D
As diehard Dallas fans, this was a must for us!!! We had an absolutely amazing time at the legendary Southfork. The staff was wonderfully knowledgeable about the show, the cast, the history and they treated us with such kindness. It is a memory that will last a lifetime for all of us!!

    Live like a ewing experience
Many thanks to Betty and the team for a fun memorable stay at South fork ranch. It was amazing to have BoBo looking after us and serving as a fantastic JR steak and wonderful breakfast at miss Ellies table outside. The private tour and stories were very interesting and watching dallas dvds in jock and JRs chairs a bit surreal!! As was sleeping in JRs bed!! Had a great time very friendly staff and a real one of experience which my wife loved as a dallas fan would definitely recommend worth every penny. Thanks Betty you and the team are fantastic and made the stay Neil & JAQUI

Bucket List Item since childhood--enjoyed our visit
Seeing Southfork has been on my bucket list since the 80s when I watched the show in Germany with my parents. Watching Dallas was my first introduction to American culture. My experience clearly wasn't unique because our tour group consisted of people from all over the world, and only one American couple. I had expected we would be the only visitors but quite to the contrary, there were bus loads of tourists. From the large parking lot, you fist enter a modern visitor center where souvenirs and tour tickets are sold. There is a small museum with pictures, video and props from the show. The gun used to shoot JR anyone? A white tram then takes you to the house, with some commentary along the way. The house is so small in real life. Both our tram driver and our tour guide were engaging and made the tour interesting by telling stories about filming, both about the stars and the actual owners. Turns out only outdoor scenes were actually filmed here in the summer. Pictures are allowed everywhere, you can even sit at the famous breakfast table and have your picture taken by the pool. After the tour you are free to roam the grounds and see Jock Ewings' car in a side building. On the way out, we took some pictures in front of 'gate 3" the famous Southfork gate seen in every episode that faces the main road. Even my husband, who has never seen the show, enjoyed the experience. Look Mom, I went to Southfork!

    Dallas TV series and more
It is what it is. If you are a Dallas TV series junkie, it's heaven. They have a separate museum area outside the house with walls filled with photos and news clips, and video of parts of the shows. It is showing it's age, but they are making an effort to keep it going through horse rides and a large event area for weddings, etc.

If you grew up watching Dallas…
If you grew up watching Dallas, Southfork is a must see. They offer tours every hour on the quarter hour. The price is $20.00 per adult. I have now taken the tour twice in the past 188 months and I learned something new from each tour guide both times. Unfortunately, the house is a lil more warn than it was in the fall of 2023 so you can no longer go out on the sundeck to view the pool or go out on the upper level patio on the front of the home. Despite these two facts it was still a great tour and I am glad I did it again for a second time.

South Fork Ranch is a amazing. The First Ever Rodeo done by Celina Chamber was absolutely amazing. But I want to call out Hector and Sam from the hospitality company. They were absolutely fantastic. Both men are outstanding and their staff went above and beyond. Thank you

RodeoCelina Thanks The Hospitality Teams at Southfork Ranch!
Southfork hosted the 1st PRCA Rodeo in Collin County and the first for Rodeo Celina! The rodeo started on May 31 and ended on June 2, 2024. From set-up to take down, Southfork employees were there helping in every capacity. The Southfork Hospitality and Kitchen Teams took care of hundreds of volunteers, cowboys, cowgirls and VIP's. Sammy and Hector took care of everything! Can't wait to host RodeoCelina again next year!

    Worth a visit
This was on my wife’s bucket list and it did not disappoint. She and her father used to watch this when it was aired and this was a must do. We visited in the aftermath of a tornado which in itself, was an experience. The tour guides were absolutely fantastic and were walking, talking encyclopaedias. South fork is not as big as portrayed on television but it did not disappoint. We had full access to the house and got to see where JR slept and, spoiler alert, where he was shot! If you have time and are a fan, go. Texas tours were exceptional throughout.

Not as good as I had expected it to be
Booked the Live and Dream Like A Ewing as a present for my husband. At over $2500 for an overnight stay, it was expensive but it was going to be a one off thing. Arrival was at 3pm. We waited in the visitor centre until almost 4pm as they were running late. The centre has a small museum which is interesting and a shop. Apparently Lorimar won't allow them to sell anything relating to the original tv series so the items on sale simply say Dallas or Southfork. Our booking included a tour. Tour is a few empty buildings on the ranch, a small house used in a spin-off Dallas (which I don't think has ever been broadcast in UK), Jock's car and the family house from the show. At the time of filming this was a privately owned family home so only the outside shots were filmed there, inside stuff at the studios. That said I expected the dining room, lounge, bedrooms etc to be decorated as they were in the show for the purposes of the tours. None of the inside decor is the same. And it's very small inside. For Dallas fans it is cool being able to sit on the same furniture on the patio, even the awnings are the same, but the furniture is rusty and the pool hasn't been maintained. It is in an awful state and very, very small. Mirrors were used to create the illusion of a huge pool. We were told to leave by 8.30am the following morning so they can set up for the next tours. We were given a steak dinner which was way too big, half of went in the bin. After dinner a bucket of popcorn, snacks and soft drinks along with a few dvds to watch in the living room on the tv. All in all it was quite a let down. I expected a lot more authenticity because the cost was so high.

    Fun tour
This was an interesting tour for those that loved Dallas and those (me) that didn't watch it. Alesha our tour guide provided very interesting tidbits and hearing the history of the property was great. It is amazing to see the size of everything compared to what is seen on TV. Deb and Fabiola in the gift shop were super friendly and helpful. Isabella did great driving the tractor bringing guests to the house.

My husband and I booked a trip to Texas for February 2020. I have always wanted to ride on a Texas ranch, so we booked the trail ride and ranch tour at Southfork Ranch after being advised to book in advance. We scheduled this for day three of our trip so we could get over jet lag and plan our transport as we were staying in the city.

The day after arriving, it was glorious weather (25 degrees) and the following day was also good, however there was some rain in the evening. We received an email the day before the trail ride advising us to keep an eye on the weather. Although the forecast was initially not good, it changed to an occasional shower for the day of our ride so we got up early to make our way to Southfork as we couldn't see any reason for it to be cancelled. Just as we were leaving our hotel, we received an email to say the riding was cancelled. I explained that we had come from the UK, and this was something we had been looking forward to since booking the previous year. We were told the ground was too muddy due to the rain the previous evening.

I asked if there were any alternatives for us to still ride, i.e. a lesson on the ranch and was told abruptly 'No'. It was interesting how the good service I had been receiving through messenger when I first booked, changed to abrupt responses where no effort was made to offer any alternative. As we only had two more days in Texas, and the following day was set to get colder/wetter, there was no room to reschedule.

We hung around our hotel for a few hours as we still intended to go to the ranch for the tour of the house/grounds. When we arrived there was no rain, albeit it was cold. The ground was dry and not muddy. We spoke to the lady at the shop about our disappointment. We asked about the mud and were told there were no hills, but the wrangler would have checked the ground and deemed it unsafe.

In the UK, mud and cold weather do not stop us from riding and as the trail ride only included walking, we could not understand the cancellation. It appeared we were the only ones there to ride, so we could only assume they didn't feel like going out in the cold for just two people, without any consideration for our individual circumstances.

There was no apology from the wrangler and the ranch could have done more. They would have known the five-day forecast in advance and also their threshold for cancelling. They could have contacted us in advance to find out our plans and offer us an earlier day to avoid disappointment.

I understand the safety of horses and riders comes first - I've been riding all my life and know the importance of this, but the ground was fine and there was no rain while we were at the ranch. If the conditions on the trail were as described, why could we not be offered a ride around the ranch itself which was extremely flat and dry?

We were told we would receive a refund for the trail ride but were very disappointed.

Don't waste your time or money. , I loved the TV show, But the tour is not worth it. Especially since Not one scene was filmed inside the house. This is not a mansion. The inside of the house is outdated, smells a mildew smell is rundown and has not been maintained. Save your money just go to the gift shop and take pictures from the outside do not wast your 18.50 per person in touring someone's old house.

Our families met in Dallas, Texas for a family trip and spent a day at Southfork Ranch. We had purchased the 'Day at the Ranch' package for 7 of us. From my first initial phone call with Tourism Sales Manager, Bette Hodges, months before and up through the trip - she was extremely accommodating, nice, and easy to work with! She met us upon arrival and was our chaperone throughout the day. Two family members in our group did not participate in the trail ride, so Bette took them around the ranch on a golf cart showing them various sites.

The 3 wranglers Jane, Katelyn and Cody, also made our time with the horse education/trail ride extremely enjoyable! They were very knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. Their attention to detail was impressive, and they made sure we stayed hydrated as the temperature that day was 104 degrees.

Our tour guide in the mansion, Caryl, was very informative and extremely entertaining! She made this tour fun and memorable.

We felt the cost of our 'Day at the Ranch' package was well worth the value, which also included a tasty boxed lunch and very nice gift bags with a coupon for the gift shop. All staff members did an awesome job and helped make our day at Southfork Ranch very fun & memorable! ...don't forget to tip them it is appreciated.

If you are a 'Dallas' fan I would highly recommend a visit to Southfork Ranch, and even if you are unfamiliar with 'Dallas' - as 3 of my teenage boys were - they still had a very enjoyable time!

Loved the tour as it brought me back to my all time favorite tv show in my teen years. There is a nice gift shop and small museum where you check in, that houses a few relics from the show and an interesting family-tree that shows how everyone who is related, is related. You then take a 5 min. tram ride over to the house, pulling into the driveway as we've seen so many times on the show. Once at the house you have a guide take you thru the inside, remember, "Dalla" only filmed outside scenes here, so I knew not to expect the inside to look like the "Dallas" set, but it was interesting. The bedroom hallway on the first floor was painted black for the new-Dallas, but made the house look cheap and cheezie. After the tour you can walk the grounds to your hearts content. That was a bit sad, as you can see, there isn't any money being put into the grounds upkeep and the out-buildings are showing need of maintenance,. Glad I went, as i realized this is a "generational" tourist attraction...in another 10 years, i doubt anyone will remember JR and Southfork.

Since only the outside was actually used in the television series, there was not much to see that was on the show. The lady giving the tour inside the house gave some interesting tidbits about the filming of the show. Overall, not impressed with the personnel. Not overly friendly...........

The tour was great and the hostess was very good. Would recommend to at least anyone who likes the show, you don’t even have to be a huge fan of it and still you will have interesting time. It was $16 for the tour and it really was worth it.

Visited because my wife's a Dallas TV series fan and I was working in Dallas for a while - easy to find with a large car park and a shop / small museum at the entrance. Once you've gone through the museum you get on a tram for a 5min drive to the main house. We had a nice tour around the house which lasted for about one hour (downstairs and upstairs) and we were then free to explore the gardens / other buildings on the walk back to the shop to exit. Definately recommended if you're a Dallas fan and in the area.

many of us who experienced the 70s to 90s era recall the Dallas Series, whether via our parents or our own early TV viewing times. The dream of living in such an expansive ranch , and house , with the whole family having dinners or breakfrasts. driving fancy cars or having parties by the pool , or strolling the ranch or horse riding. All a fantasy that comes true in a place like Dallas , Texas. The ranch is 20 miles ( 24 minuted drive from downtown dallas) and is in the city of Parker, a charming suburban town, The ranch has an entertaining tour , with lots of memories and souvenirs.
Drive there, and take a look at how we all dreamt of a relaxed luxurious life .

We had booked a trail ride for 10am. The previous day there was heavy rain so they cancelled our ride as the trails would be muddy. We rescheduled for the following day. The info says to come 45 minutes before your scheduled time, which we did. We received a call roughly an hour before saying our ride would be canceled again due to weather. Our disappointment comes from not being told earlier in the morning that the ride was canceled. We were already on site after driving 45 minutes from Dallas. Being a service provider, I would expect that they would check the trails a few hours before guests are due to arrive to avoid any issues. Our wrangler did let us pet and feed treats to the horses as a consolation, since we were already there.

We understand that the weather was the reason for the cancellation. We just wish we were notified in advance so it could of avoided us waisting a half day of our trip for nothing.
