I stopped here mostly to break up a long trip across Texas. However, it really is quite interesting. They have signs explaining how engineering students designed and built the thing and comparing it to the original in England. That was almost as interesting as the stones themselves. It's not too far off the interstate, and it is worth a stop.

If you're driving to Big Bend or West on I20 and looking for a quick side trip to break up the drive, stop in Odessa, TX. On the campus of UT Permian Basin, they have built a replica of Stonehenge out of concrete. Worth the stop and it is on scale as well. Great instagram photo opp and good place to have the kids run off some steam.

Odessa is not exactly a tourist destination, with its oil fields, fracking and gas it's pretty average. So to find a Stonehenge replica was a pleasant surprise, almost laughable, really! Allow about 10 minutes to take photos and read the info and just enjoy it for what it is.

About 20 minutes to walk around, take pictures and read the displays. There were different circles (inner and outer). The taller stones were quite high, but the inner circle was smaller than I thought it would be.

We stopped in Odessa on our way back from our New Mexico road trip and found this replica. It's a lovely piece of art and a great place for unique photos. I wouldn't travel to Odessa just for this replica. However, if you're on a road trip and looking for quirky sights and you're in the area this woukd be a great stop. Plus it's FREE!

I have seen pictures of the Stonehenge in Salisbury, England . There’s a replica in Nevada of the Stonehenge as originally designed. And this is a replica of the destroyed Stonehenge ie an exact replica of what you would see if you traveled to England.

It is interesting to see it up close. The stones are much larger than I imagined, but the overall circumference is much smaller than I envisioned.

It’s definitely worth a quick stop if your passing through the area.

The Texas Stonehenge is easy to find on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. There are about 20 stone bricks about the size and shape and appearance of the real Stonehenge. Took about six weeks to build in the summer of 2004. Admission is free.

Did not know this existed. It was a great place for photography especially around sunset. There is a positive energy there. I don't know why they built it but it was a great idea. It is easy to get to and just wonderful.

Every year I take three kids and a large dog cross country to visit family. Due to our sweet dog our places to stop and stretch our legs are limited.

My kids (still in early grades) loved running around this replica to try to figure out why the original was built and how. We spent more time there than I thought because they wanted to solve the unsolved mystery.

Meanwhile I was able to walk around with our dog while she stretched her legs.

I thought this would be a simple fun stop for us, it turned out to be a several hour discussion in the car for my girls as they tried to solve the ancient mystery --- mind you they had been bickering for hours in the car prior to this. That alone gives this 5 stars ;-).

And since I travel with three girls I like to know:

It is on a college campus. We went in early August -- so it was empty. I suspect that there are restrooms in the buildings if needed -- but I didn't see any obvious restrooms open to the public. Across the street there are many fast food and stores which would have restrooms.

Only 5 min off the highway -- another huge bonus.
