About
Stars and Stripes New Braunfels is a brand new drive-in theater unlike any you've experienced before! Although our facility is modern, it's not lacking any part of the vintage drive-in experience that many of us hold dear. We show new double features year-round. For the full drive-in experience, visit our 50's Cafe to grab Rockin' Eats & Tasty Treats. Arrive about an hour early to skip the line!

We're from the UK so completely unused to drive in movie theatres except what we see in movies themselves. So a December visit to Stars and Stripes was a lot of fun. On arrival you go through toll booths and two adults and one child was about $22. We chose Spies in Disguise and Frozen 2 as the double feature, parked up in screen three, deciding with our SUV to stay inside the vehicle whilst others got out lawn chairs and reversed into spaces. Then off to the fifties diner where food was OK, my grilled chicken was tough and seems to have had an encounter with a microwave on its journey. The film audio comes through dedicated FM channels, cute mini movies beforehand all stylised with 1950s graphics tell you what to do. The movie screen was crystal clear, in fact our only challenge on movie number two ironically this was Frozen 2 was out front windscreen misting up due to the cold and we noticed most of the pick ups had changed themselves round to sit inside the cabs. There weren't many people there, we weren't bothered by anyone else though people do seem to like to move their cars around and few left sidelights on which other people got out and asked them to turn off. But it was a lot of fun and effectively two movies for the price of 1 even if we were literally a little Frozen ourselves by the 11pm finish. Other reviews said you can switch films in the intermission but the graphics on the screen said this was not allowed.

Went on a Friday night. First time since Covid showed up. It was packed. So get there early if you want a good space.
One the way to the drive-in I notice many of the shopping centers were empty. Never have seen such a long line at the drive-in before. I now understand that people use to shop and spread out to different areas on the weekends. Places are now limited where to go to get out of the house. Any place that was open was packed Friday night.

We bought tickets to watch "Godzilla vs Kong" on 04/10/2021 and found it to be the absolute worst experience we've ever had at a drive-in. Between people continually driving around with their lights on, poor quality picture (couldn't even identify the actors), and ridiculous parking rules, we considered our latest (and last) visit to Star and Stripes to be a complete waste of money.
It was so bad that we left 30 minutes into the movie. Total waste of time.

My husband, his sister and I visited from Louisiana on Tuesday night. We can’t wait to bring our grandsons when we return to New Braunfels in November. Nice concession stand with lots of options and a wonderful playground (closed due to COVID-19). The owner came over and talked with us.

When the price is right and the backseat is full of Christmas cookies and peanut brittle, head on out to the movies. This drive in was wonderful. It really is cozy and the café had frito pie and Icees too. I did not need to try the popcorn, but they also had that. Nice clean bathrooms were warm and the kids were loving the playground. All the dog owners were following the rules so the furry babies don't miss out on movie night. Congrats on a well-planned soirée, complete with adorable ads before each movie.

I have waited for the opportunity to take my child to a drive-in since she was born. Going to this drive-in brought back all the memories from childhood. Everything you used to love down to the old fashioned "go to the lobby" commercials. This drive-in manages to take you back and give into modern times perfectly. Family friendly, no alcohol. Check out their website to see show times and to prepare for your visit it's very informative. If you don't get there early prepare for a line to get in, but they move quickly enough.

The wife and I drove across town so that she could experience a drive in movie. She loved it. We stopped by Whataburger on the way and we had a cooler full of drinks. Prices at the concessions is very reasonable and they even have a playground for the kiddos. I recommend coming here early as the prime viewing locations do fill up quickly. I arrived an 1 1/2 hours early and got an excellent parking spot in the middle. We ate and hung out till the movie started. FYI...it is a double feature so you can actually watch 2 movies for the price of one admission! Definitely worth going to!!

The movie was good quality while there is a lot of space to choose where to park your car. Also the bathrooms were very clean and convenient!

We love coming to the Stars & Stripes Drive In. We normally try to get there pretty early to reserve a great parking spot with a good view. We set up camping chairs, bean bag chairs and bring a cooler full of goodies. The kids look forward to our fun movie nights!

Is it necessary to get there right at opening to get a decent spot?

All spots seem pretty good since where you park it's sloped upwards. Beware of people leavings lights on or people that are watching out of their trunk area. They aren't supposed to leave the hatchbacks fully extended, but some do. The majority follows the rules. If it's a big movie premier I'd get there early. If you bring any type of coupon it Must be printed. They won't take it from your phone. (example free birthday popcorn)

I understand the sound is going through FM radio, are there any speakers in addition to the broadcast?

We bought the cheap AM/FM radio/CD player at Walmart. Uses batteries, we like to camp out in the back of the truck and this provides great sound from the screen. Definitely recommend, depending on where you park and what screen you are at, sometimes the sound is great from all the surrounding vehicles, sometimes not, if you are at screen 2, you would need to be in the middle or to the far left--at the far right, you will get feedback and noise from screen 3, the portable radio from Walmart really helps if it is full and you end up on this end and it is screen 2. Same for screen 3 on the left side. Screen 1 is aside to itself, we have forgotten our radio a time or 2 and were o-kay over there.
