Gruene Hall is a great historic dance hall. Most hours of every day, there is live music being played in the hall. In the summer, the window coverings are raised to take advantage of any kind of breeze as there isn't any air conditioning. Everyone...More

Staying at the Gruene Mansion next door and stopped in to enjoy some good music and a nice cold brew. Great laid back place rich in music history.

My wife and I visited here whilst on holiday from Australia on a road trip between New Orleans and Austin. Old fashioned dance hall with cheap cold beers (cash only), great live music and authentic locals dancing. We had read a lot about this place...More

Gruene Hall wouldn’t existing in 99% of the world, it’s a very old building with a lot of history. If you like country music, make sure it’s on your to do list.

After dining at the Gristmill, my friend and I popped in here, 25 minutes before closing. We enjoyed the music. Both of us wish we had brought along our dance partners, because the dance floor had plenty of room to spare. I am certain this...More

We came on a Sunday afternoon and there was a free concert going on. Grabbed a beer and spent a little while drinking our beers and listening to some great music.

Was on my way back from Austin heading to San Antonio and decided to stop off in Gruene and go listen to some music at the hall. It was free and the band was pretty good. The music had already started, so we didn’t talk...More

Just to swing by is an experience of some great music and atmosphere. Generally music is free during the week, folks pretty friendly and fun to visit with your neighbor. Great place to hang out after a meal in Gruene.

We didn't know you had to prebuy tickets to go see their house band. We did get to go during the day which was nice.

Austin is quite far away for what you are thinking. We stayed at the Best Western in New Branfuls, a 10 minute drive, after the show. Good travel's to you!!

Weather should be ok. It can get cold here in January, but usually it’s rather pleasant, Gruene Hall is heated just no a/c. So just check the weather a day or so ahead of time, weather shouldn’t be a reason not to go.
