Without detracting from the building and exhibits - the "downside" of the facility is that it is an "Amtrak" station - so people will likely associate it with delays delays, and more delays as is Amtrak's signature.

Fortunately the Museum gives delayed travelers something to do while they wait and wait some more. There is a lot of history here - both local and regional - and it's a tribute to the visionary folks who preserved this station and the items on exhibit.

It's free and definitely worth a visit even if you don't plan on taking the train!

Mineola Depot is a great roadside attraction and a Great stop for Amtrak riders. A+ & 5 star. Love the model train display and all of the history.

Very nice facility, expertly ran by Mrs. Martha Moreland. She is such a pleasure and is very knowledgeable. I am eager for the next trio to the depot and will stop by and say hello because Mrs. Martha really knows how to make a person feel welcomed!!

It is quaint, cute, has a nice attendant to help answer questions. Great for kids traveling with parents into Dallas and beyond.

The musuem is small but worth the stop. If you stop during the time that Amtrack train is coming stopping this is a real treat. The Amtrack hostess,Martha Ann Morland, is a wonderful person to visit with. She knows a lot of train history and Mineola history. A great treat if she is there. The Amtrack stops in around 9:30 am and 5:00 pm, or course times varies but you can check the schedule. You do not want to miss this if you are in Mineola.

This is worth a quick stop, depot museum with history of Mineola. This depot is still in use today with the Amtrak.

Neat place to visit and see the history of the railroad. There was no one working but got to look around and take some pictures.

My 81 year old mother who is an avid quilter enjoys visiting the quilting shop in Mineola, aka The Best Little Quilt Shop In Texas. For a mother/daughter trip weekend trip, we rode the train from Texarkana to Mineola to arrive at the B&B (a delightful place, but that is another review. The Depot and Railroad Museum was a wonderful surprise when we got off the train while waiting for our rental car. The train history was very enjoyable and the photos are awesome! Take the time to walk through and see the Golden Age of the Train! Well worth it!

It tells the story of the Railroad going into Texarkana. My brother-in law worked for them for 40 years. I like anything about the railroad.
