Holiday for two
Sep 2018 • Couples
Very very nice hotel I've been to, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and the hotel presented different foods every night and the was no problem at all, the hotel was not far from the beach, roughly about a 3 min walk and the rooms were very clean, also the entertainment changed every day which was good.

Good hotel friendly staff good food
Oct 2018 • Couples
Just back from a weeks holiday at the renamed Abora Continental Maspalomas. The hotel is in the process of refurbishment. We had a newly completed room with sea view (extra but reasonable). The room was clean and comfortable with a good balcony with sturdy furniture (not the cheap white ones you can get). We choose to go all inclusive (extra €90 per person for the week) which was well worth it. The food was good with a good choice and the staff throughout the hotel were really friendly. There are major roadworks outside the hotel which are due to continue for another 2 years as they are building a new waterpark, however whilst a bit noisy through the day nothing late or early morning.

Hotel was spotlessly clean, staff were welcoming and very helpful, animation team were excellent putting in a lot of time and energy. Food in restaurant was ok a bit repetitive but mainly good the only downside of any importance was that one of our group was not a meat eater and her choices were very limited by the end of the week she never wanted salad again. I would recommend this hol with jet 2

Great place
Sep 2018 • Couples
Really enjoyable relaxing holiday. Not far from shops or bus stop to get to other places. Food was great had a help yourself snack area with hotdogs burgers pizza chips sandwiches and cakes. Beer wine coffee and soft drinks help yourself on machines/pumps. Plastic in the day due to the pool. Changes to mugs and glass in the evening, restaurant has glass and mugs in it also. Kettle and hairdryer in the room and a mini fridge. A lovely hotel with great entertainment staff and evening entertainment also free WiFi in bar area and just outside on seating terrace. Would definitely stay again in the future.

A great hotel ruined !
Jul 2018 • Friends
Holidayed at the ifa several times in the past when it was part of a German chain of hotels. It was the best hotel on the island for food and had an amazing entertainment team. It may have been given a makeover but the building is still that awful unwelcoming brown colour and new decor doesnt change the fact that it has lost its appeal to those of us who returned year after year. Gone are those fun filled days. A reduced entertainment team with no fabulous shows & daytime pool games. Can't even use a sponge ball in the pool let alone a rubber ring or air mattress. Health & safety gone stupid! Why not allow lifeguards to use common sense like they do in other countries.
The quality of food has declined beyond redemption. Gambos are no longer plentiful and lean bacon has been replaced by rashers of pure fat. Ready made cocktails just to save money on a bit of fruit, umbrella and straw.
Sadly our favourite hotel is now a spa aimed at older clientele.
Such a shame.
Make some positive changes and we will return in droves!

Not for younger visitors, but an OK budget hotel

I stayed here for 5 nights with a friend for our Spring Break (we are both 18). Honestly, it's a 'meh' from us. It's somewhat close to the beach and the boardwalk restaurants and has a bus stop nearby, but it's a bit far from the big shopping centers and Maspalomas.

No matter what we did, whenever we took a shower or bath, the carpet right outside would get soaking wet and remain damp for the following days...even if the bathroom itself didn't flood. Our parents' room had the same problem and it was never fixed. The cleaning staff also doesn't knock nor regard "Do Not Disturb" signs, so tell them personally (and kindly) when you would like your room to be cleaned.

The complimentary breakfast was OK, nothing spectacular, but the dinner buffet is definitely not worth it; the food is under-seasoned and not cooked thoroughly half of the time. The entire week we were there, the juice machine was out of order and the water from the restaurant in the hotel had black flecks in it...I guess their filter was broken. The restaurant staff was also pretty aloof and would take your plate from you (without asking) if you took your eyes off of it for just one second.

The nighttime entertainment is also pretty lackluster. It's mostly comprised of old singers performing covers of old songs for an even older audience. You'd be better off walking 1km to the Kasbah centre for clubs like Garage, ChinaWhite, Pacha, and Dolce to party.

The pools are pretty nice, if not a bit chilly, and there are sections for kids and smaller, more private pools. Sadly, there was no hot-tub or jacuzzi.

However, there are a few upsides. Three of us got massages at the spa within the hotel, of which we booked at the front desk, and the experience was amazing, though a bit pricey. The masseuse was kind, thorough, and used nicely scented (but cold) oils. There are also shops and a pharmacy attached to the hotel that are great to shop at if you'd like to get some souvenirs (there are plenty).

LASTLY, as my friend and I would leave and return from clubbing every night, we noticed that there are a small group of young prostitutes that loiter on the hotel steps every night starting at 9pm. Prostitution is legal in Gran Canaria, and the girls are very sweet (we chatted with them a bit: just gals being pals) but if this makes you or your family uncomfortable I would opt for a different hotel.

Amazing holiday
Aug 2018 • Family
We arrived 2 weeks ago and from start to finish our holiday was amazing!!!

We had one of the newly refurbished rooms and wow!! It’s was beautiful along with the rest of the hotel that has undergone renovation. Yes there is still a lot of the hotel undergoing renovations but we had a room right next to the room a that were still being worked on and didn’t hear a thing day or night.

I would like to make a special mention to the breakfast chef Luis and one of our waiters Jose who were brilliant with my kids and always made sure that there were chocolate doughnuts on the buffet for them for when they finished their cooked breakfast. Thank you!!

I would also like to make a very special mention to the animation team Iris, Angelo, Jordan and Zinno....you guys were amazing!! You made my family feel very welcome and at ease and you were all fabulous at getting people to join in on the activities (including my kids) we are really going to miss you guys a lot!!

I would also like to say that the food was fantastic!! Most days there were different choices, some people complained about it being repetitive but what do you expect for an all inclusive holiday?? We enjoyed every meal time....there was plenty of choices for all including the very fussy.

All in all another 10/10 holiday experience for us I’ve been coming to this hotel for the last 7yrs and have never been disappointed.

Thank you once again for a wonderful holiday experience.

Lovely for older couples out for relaxing calming holiday :)
May 2018 • Couples
Hotel & food is excellent for this 4* hotel. Drinks self service machines around every corner, wine, rose, lager, coffee & even slush machines. Food selection & dining area lovely & clean with a varied selection. Entertainment lets this hotel down as entertainment only lasts from 9.30 - 10.30pm. Crowd participation is needed on most eve. Quite a walk (1 mile) to get to bars at local beach although a lovely pathway alongside the dunes. Very popular with the Germans & French holidaymakers with only small minority of Brits in this part of the Island. People in general not as friendly by any means on this holiday. Wouldn't rush to go back to this Island.

Boring for families with kids
Aug 2018 • Family
Day 2 and still hardly anyone in the pool ...... and not even allowed to throw this for my daughter to play with to entertain her ! Apparently after speaking to someone yesterday who said that a lot of families leave the hotel for the day to go to the beach so that they can have fun !!! Such a shame as it’s a lovely pool area but literally nothing to do for children . I have noticed that suddenly the hotel is being advertised as a hotel spa? Won’t be surprised if next year this is an adults only hotel !!!
